Sending huge files?

Thread Starter
I'm not too sure where to ask this, but as the title says, I need help having a friend send me a bunch of large files.
Each one is 4gb, and there are over 100 of them. Storage is no problem, got a 2tb home server, but I need to have them sent over to my computer so I can compress them.

Plenty of options mate:

- Physical transfer via hdd/portable hdd
- A FTP client (google it)
- Torrent

Something like filezilla then? I was thinking a torrent, but I've never really torrented anything, what would be a good way to make a torrent file and share it?

Torrent would be my choice.

Pick your torrent client you want then read up on setting up torrents. (I use Linux from the command line so I'm not of much use)

I agree that torrents would be the easiest, however it would still take forever. It would probably be faster to physically send him the data.

What is the data? If it is video/audio there won't be much gain in compressing them, a waste of time.

Also if you are really far apart and getting a portable hard drive to each other would involve shipping. Then burning to dvd's and just mailing 3-4 in an envelope would be a good choice....

The OP stated over 100_ 4gb files so dvd's would be a major was of media. The best option is to upload as a torrent or actually sending the HDD and have them recover the data.
