AMD X2 Build

Thread Starter
hey everyone i am going to be working on my AMD X2 Build this month. this will be the last upgrade i do for a while and i want to keep in as much budget as possible.

the budget i have set myself was £250 which i have spent some it already and have some of the stuff which i currently have in my rig, this includes the Graphics Card, Soundcard, but i have also got some moding material too, like Cigarette lighter DVD RW, you know the usual stuff, at the end of me finishing i will have the following system.

AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ [S939]
ASROCK SataDual Motherboard [S939]
2GB Corsair Memory
Nvidia 6200 256MB Graphics Card
200GB + 80GB + 80GB Maxtor Hard Drives
2X Liteon DVDRW Dual Layer Drives
Custom Water Cooling/ Big Typhoon
430W Thermaltake PurePower Powersupply
Creative Audigy2 ZS Soundcard
Thermaltake Soprano Case
19" CRT Monitor
Labtec Wireless Keyboard And Mouse

What you guys think?

Looks solid. May I be so bold as to recommend that you go with an AM2 socket as opposed to S939.

S939 is heading out, and you will have a more difficult time upgrading in the future.

Also, if you can swing a vid card like the 7600GT you will be doing yourself a favor.

Have fun with it!

plan is to keep as many components as i can, dont get me wrong i think i could get another year outta my Socket A, but as times change i will demand more, so i have decided to go with this one, after all the stuff mentioned there will be no more cash to be put into the computer, as i want to save for driving lessons and holidays and so on. so there wont really be any cash left.

In situations with limited funds, you have to remember that eBay and the For Sale section is your best friend

You may be able to pick up a good CPU\\Mobo combo on here for less that what you'd pay from somewhere like Misco or Microdirect

That will be a good upgrade from your socket A setup.

thanks i will end up overclocking eventually, but run stock for a bit, i am just wondering if Water Cooling is the best way to go, i would REALLY REALLY like water cooling, but its rather expensive, if i could find it cheap for around £50 - £60 i would probably get it, get rid of all this fan noise.

EDIT:

just thought i would run the idea past people see what people think.
