Easy pal, the FM2 Trinity looks great but isn't out yet but looks really promising, with that said you don't own any APU's for now so yor comments might be taken a little more harsh in the APU OWNERS CLUB FORUM . But since you dont have an APU and feel like buying one now is wasting $$$ with the new APU around the corner then waiting until summer+ might be a good idea too. You do have good taste on theTrinity APU I think there going to sell great and be powerful enough to really give Intel a challange in the $ per performance catagory.

I made a Llanos overclocking discovery tonight. sorry for the short Prime 95 tests (about 6min each) because there were a ton of them involved. The CPU used was a A8-3870K but i think my findings should work on all Llanos APUs. A default voltage of 1.4v was used on all tests.
The Default CPU PLL Voltage is something like 2.1v, I've had mine at 2.46v (dont ask me why i was just messing around in the bios).

TEST 1:
3.3GHz (1.400v Core)
PLL Voltage = 2.46v
Win7 boots but Prime 95 shows errors very early on

TEST 2:
3.4GHz (1.400v Core)
PLL Voltage = 2.46v
Win7 WON'T boot

TEST 3:
3.4GHz (1.400v Core)
PLL Voltage 2.68v
Win7 Boots!
Prime 95 stable for at least 6min. I stopped it at that point.

I don't think the PLL voltage will increase temp because of it's simplicity. I didn't see any signs of this. I have no real idea where the limitation in PLL voltage is, my bios has 2.7v or more shown in red which is why im at 2.68v. I tried to go for 3.8GHz but even with a core voltage of 1.5v, the PLL of 2.68v and a bios temp of 52c I couldn't boot windows. Increase those PLLs an post results!

:::EDIT::: I know i said 3.4 but it was actually 3.39GHz.

APU's are the only thing which i love about AMD/ATI..wink.gif

It would have even better if Trinity had L3 cache..but they don't..rolleyes.gif

this is the kind of posts it deserves...?

putting smiley faces and winks at the end of your sentences does not make them offensive to some people, let alone mean. If you don't have anything interesting of useful to say, it is best to keep your fan-boyish comments to yourself. (and for those out of context, I don't say this just because of this post, I say it because of the string of annoying comments Ankit has been posting on this fan/owner club.)

I was able to get 3.5 Ghz stable, 1.4 cpu volts, CPUZ has an error and reports it as 1.18 or something but thats wrong..

402

ome earlier tests I was able to get 3.6 , i might push it to that later then go 3.7-9

you should analyze the info hks posted up above, it might help you out a bit.
did you try running any cpu intensive task while taking the validation? the EPU throttles the vcore voltage to save on energy (or is it the TPU? I forget)
If you did have a cpu intensive task running, then just blame it on another CPUz-A8 bug tongue.gif just like that weird +100mhz everybody gets smile.gif
