i want to build amd apu build for gaming (preferably the A8-3870K) but since the trinity a10 apus are coming out in about 3 or 4 months...should i wait on it?
i heard the a10's have a 50% performance increase over the a8
what do you guys think, is it worth it to wait it out or what?

I was thinking about waiting but found an A8-3870K for ~£90 inc delivery so bought it. IMO the unlocked A10 wont be around till Q3 (at the earliest), so cant really wait that long when there is such a good price. Also will just sell the motherboard and APU when trinity comes out (if worth it performance wise) and upgrade anyway, since AMD motherboards are relatively cheap.

if I was a betting man Id say you won't need to upgrade your motherboard when Trinity comes out AMD is history of bing able to use a boardacross sevral models as Fm 1 was frist genaration

Trinity uses FM2. FM1 is officially dead.

Just a question about pwm fan speed and temp of my non-OCd 3870k with H60 (pwm is the single fan on the rad.
I have the Bios set like so
20°C ~40% fan speed
60°C~100% fan speed
Seem like reasonable settings?

also, on Core Temp and Speccy it shows my cpu down at 1°C when idling, motherboard between 25°C to 30°C, when I run Prime95 it'll be accurate (±30°C) why is it doing this?

Sorry if they're stupid questions, this is my first PC build.

There are too many variables to know if those are good settings. Some of them are,
-Ambient Air temp (also how does this change from day to night)
-Case
-H60 mounting
-GPU/heatsink setup

just moving my case from one room to the other give me substantial differences in core temperature. What I suggest you do is boot your computer and dont run anything. After about 30min, what are your temps? if they are under ~50c then turn the low fan speed lower. Your upper fan speed (60C @ 100%) seems fine. I read somewhere that the Llanos cpus are designed for use up to 70C . I don't know how true that is.

the 1C @ idle is way off but that is normal. Idle temps are never ever close to being right. just look at your load temps.

Hey, I posted a similar question on the Llano thread located on AV Science forums.

I would like a A75 board. I will be using an SSD with this build, likely 64GB boot drive. I run Windows 7 32-bit so I don't need much more space and I don't use many programs, its the HTPC.

I need at least 2 PCI slots for legacy TV Tuners I use. Other than that, I would like Digital Out as that's where my sound goes, though I'm positive I can go HDMI out to HDMI in on the HDTV and fire Optical back to my Home Theater In A Box if the board I get doesn't have optical out.

My budget is sub-$100. I really don't want to spend much more than $80 and was looking at an ECS that was $64 after rebate. But that rebate is gone and I also found out they are using the old style BIOS and not UEFI.

I am targeting the ASRock A75-Pro4-M which is $75 from New Egg.

Any other suggestions?

I've seen all the A75 boards on New Egg, even ASRock's A55 Pro board has (2) USB 3.0 ports and Opitcal out! Its $5 more than the one I mentioned.
