They are considered 4 core...2 modules 4 threads. They are snappy...havent done any productivity testing yet but can tell you compared to my old 920 deneb it feels "faster". 5400k would be a great choice for the everyday web surfer.

I thought the a4 and 6 were 1 module with 2 threads, and the a8-10 were the 2 modules with 2 threads.
In progress.

I have a question, but I'm not sure if it'll apply to Trinity APU, or just Llano (FM1):

Anyone here found one of those "sweet spots" over a 165Mhz reference clock?

Ya know--
One of those spots where the whole system is getting a kick out of it..?
Like @ 165Mhz.
I'd love to see how much farther this little chip can really go,
but I'd still like to see that neat gain on my USB and SATA. wheee.gif

These APU are so frickin cool!
I got an A4-3400 running @ 4.46Ghz on stock (cooling and Vcore).
iGPU up to 990Mhz, RAM @ 1760Mhz (7-8-7-24 1T)...
And all that stable and quite cool on a "crappy" 4+1 phase MSI A55M-P33.

Best bang-for-buck by far! thumb.gif

4,46GHz on stock cooling... Damn! :O

My A6-3500 was hot at stock on stock cooling. Currently got the rig running at a base clock of 136MHz.
Not even running the CPU at full power, and it can get close to 50°C under a Freezer 7 Pro rev. 2.

Oh, and it can't find the hard disk in Linux while running the base clock at 136MHz, so Windows only overclock for me. frown.gif

I did use ThermalFusion 400 with the stock heatsink and fan.
Hasn't hit 50c even after I throttled the fan down.
Most likely because the CPU Vcore is stuck at stock (1.424v peak) with this MSI mobo. lol

And the Ripjaws X 1600 (CL9) has no problem running 7-7-7-21 @ 1760Mhz, either!
I couldn't get that with my F1A75-M PRO + 3870K + Samsung 30nm "Wonder RAM" combo...!

I still gotta get to playing around with the UD4H board and Trident X 2400.
Maybe swap around APUs and DIMMs to see how different behavior can be...! thumb.gif

I used MX-2 with my stock heatsink. And my Vengeance 1866 RAM isn't worth poop in the area of overclocking or lowering timings. frown.gif

Even the iGPU doesn't seem to be the best, as I think that was the component that caused crashes at 138MHz base clock.

So it's running a conservative 604MHz.

Guess I should be happy with any overclock I get. biggrin.gif
post #578 of 776
I'm seriously determined to hit 2400Mhz stable for my iGPU.
I have a Gigabyte A75-UD4H and some Trident X 2400.
If that don't do it with either the 3670K or 3870K,
I'm just not sure what would. lol

iGPU unstable @ 828Mhz?
Must be a 6530D or 6550D then, I'd guess.
Did you run OCCT on it and see errors @ 138Mhz, or at any point leading up to it?

And, yeah-- Vengeance+APU= FAIL from what I've seen.

EDIT: Wait-- are you set to IDE mode, on DVI/HDMI, etc..?
138Mhz would be 5Mhz over the 133Mhz strap.
Almost seems possibly your problem,
because a 5Mhz OC is hard on a tied system normally.

I can't stress enough how these things can throw you off quick.
You might not wanna give up yet.
The strangest things can be holding you back.

Example:

With reference @ 150Mhz,
I was working my CPU multi back up to x27.
Up to x24 was fine running 3600Mhz,
but x25 wouldn't even post @ 3750Mhz.

Solution:

Bring the multiplier back down to x24,
then proceed to raise the reference more.
Went all the way to 165Mhz,
which obviously exceeded 3750Mhz.
After the reference was higher,
I could raise the CPU multiplier past x25 again.

TL;DR
It doesn't have to make sense to you,
just the APU. thumb.gif

Don't come here and make me tinker more with it. tongue.gif

It actually booted at 150MHz base clock, but I hadn't set everything properly, so Windows BSODed at login screen.

I'm running the Screen on DVI. And the SATA controller is running in AHCI.

And the crash at 138MHz base clock was triggered by running Furmark, which limits it to the iGPU, with minor possibility of it being memory.

Edit: Some more tinkering, and 150 BCLK seems to be the limit of the board. I've set it to 140 though, since that fits nicely with my memory. And it seems the crash was actually caused by memory instability.

Anybody know what a reasonable expectation of OC would be on these llano chips? I have 2 3670s and have a couple lower end biostar boards that dont let me adjust the ref clock. So I'm stuck working with the multi. I've gotten up to 3.3 stable from the 2.7 and can boot into 3.4 (which with some more volts is probably stable) http://valid.canardpc.com/2734968 Can I get much more or will 700-800 Mhz be my limit? I have a 6790 card, so I've turned off the iGPU.
