That's a pretty normal OC for a quad Llano.
I found even a good phased board can only take them a little further.
The CPUs also don't typically scale well with additional Vcore.

Something like 3.5Ghz with ~1.5v is the average on my end.
3.3Ghz sounds right if you're still at stock Vcore, though.

@ agent00skid:
You should give IDE mode a try.
It's idea for headroom since the refernce OCs the SATA controller.
You'll hit a limit sooner on AHCI.

BTW and FWIW to any on-lookers:
The Gigabyte A75-UD4H kinda sucks for reference OCing.
It's USB 3.0 on the I/O disable completely a short way into the reference.
Wouldn't be so bad if that wasn't 4 of the 6 USBs on it... /facepalm

I could understand if it was necessary with the platform,
but I rather prefer the way the Asus mobo just reverts the 3.0 to 2.0 instead.

I actually much prefer them all just being 2.0 ports from the start over what the UD4H does.
In that respect, the cheap little MSI is a lot nicer for the every-day OCer.

I've gotten up to 3.3 stable from the 2.7 and can boot into 3.4 (which with some more volts is probably stable) http://valid.canardpc.com/2734968 Can I get much more or will 700-800 Mhz be my limit? I have a 6790 card, so I've turned off the iGPU.
i got 3670 runs at 3.6GHz at 1.42 prime stable. Cooled down with scythe yasya. Its true they dont scale well with voltage. I can have stock 2.7 at 1.1V 3.2 with 1.225V but after that it goes up fast. U can practically feel where u ll end up before u actually set that clock and bench because soon u need 0.1V for just 100Mhz and its just not worth it.
3.3 seems a bit low but not all chips are same. Instead of more volts make sure u re cooler is keeping it nice and cold i dont let it go over 50 deg.

Also my voltage doesnt seem to drop under load in fact it goes up a bit.

I have a Gemini II S524. Its keeping things at 41C during stress testing at 3.3 I haven't tried anything less than stock volts yet. Though I suppose I should. 3.3 takes 1.42V to be stable for the chip I'm working on so if 3.2 takes drastically less I may just go with that then. I did buy my chip used and I get the feeling I just got someone elses bad clocker. Although 3.3 from 2.7 isn't shabby and 40 bucks was a steal at the time and works great for the type of gaming i like (read not FPS). I've tried getting 3.4 stable, but I keep getting BSODs even at 1.5 V and thats about as high as i would really want to take my chip. What is the upper limit Volts these things can take before they start to get fried anyway? I have a backup a4-3400 but I'd rather not kill my quad wink.gif

My wife's chip was bought new and is probably better , but its on stock cooling and it gets too hot with too much overclock (and she hates when i OC her stuff despite the fact I've never broken a component). Though i did check hers and have it undervolted (don't remember off the top of my head what to though).

I have never found anything more than suggestions and opinions on that.

The most realistic point to stop would probably be 1.5-1.55v.
That's the typical ~10%.

If you can find out anything more definite,
please do share.

On temps, I've seen "60c" on some HW site,
but also there are post like this:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?274142-Llano-in-the-house...-(as-Charged-)-
(Page 12, post #279)

... that indicate even higher.

I honestly wonder if we're all being overly-cautious due to the lack of proper info.
After all, every Llano I've used has a default Vcore over 1.4v to begin with.
That could very well be an indication that these things can handle more volts than you'd expect.
It's understandable that the chip does need more power than the average CPU.

My Calimo Min rig - just about top of the Llano range - allows VCore adjustment in the BIOS only up to 1.55V but AI Suite II allowed me to set VCore to 1.6V - with some further adjustment to spare - and I got to 3840MHz with Prime stable for 30 minutes on one core and VCore maxed at 1.608V/34C.

I'm pretty sure that my board has a default shut off at 70C so I left it at that. Though with the stock cooler it did get that high a few times (with accompanying BSOD) The chip is still kicking though, so I doubt that 60 would kill it even over a longer period of time. As for volts, since I got my new cooler I've been up to 1.5V though that didn't stabilize 3.4 GHz. I'll have to check what my board allows, but really for 100 MHz I'm not sure I want to waste the power to get there when 1.42V works for 3.3

finally got 3.4 stable at 1.52V and ran a 3dmark06 for fun

thats a slight OC to 860 on the card. I got it used and it doesn't really respond well to OC or anything.

Also if my new clock could be updated on the front page I'd appreciate it! thanks

downgraded my system a month ago, or so. Grabbed the GTS250 for 20 bucks, but the iGPU worked pretty damn good considering. All I really play on it is LoL and now HOTS, though it CPU aspect of it plays Black Ops 2, Batman AC and others at 60 fps, so not bad for the 60 I got it for.
