AMD x2 AM2 89w vs. 65w?

Thread Starter
I'm going to buy a new processor. Its the Athlon x2 AM2 4600+ and its comes in in 89w and 65w. Whats the difference between the two? My main questions:

Is there a noise difference at stock speeds? (main question)
Power consumption between the two? (I'm guessing this is the main difference)
Is one better at overclocking than the other?

You going from an am2 4000+ to a 4600+ ?? The 65w versions consume less power so will run cooler at stock. As for noise I doubt that comes into play until you start oc'ing anyway and I haven't seen any reports about ocing from these yet, they are still brand new.

My motherboard overclocks like crap. I bought a Biostar board which for some reason is really noisy, so I prefer my asus board. So I'm just exchaning my 4000+ and getting a 4600+ (less L2, but more speed 2400mhz stock). With my 4000+ on the board can only get to 4100mhz. With the Biostar I can get to 2500mhz, but its noisy and annoys me when I'm doing HW (quiet time). So I guess I'll just go with the 89w since its $20 cheaper.

idk about the 4600+'s, but teh 4400+'s the higher power CPU runs hotter at idle and cooler (by 3-4C) Loaded. Just an FYI

The lower wattage will allow you to get more of a overclock than the higher wattage cpu.
