Get rid of consoles and the gaming industry as we know it will collapse. Sadly, the same can't be said for PCs. Acting like the industry should just chuck all consoles and force everyone to buy a gaming PC is so idiotic.

^This kinda. But if consoles were removed from existence, people would have Gaming PC's. Games are also made on the PC's so. If PC Gaming had never started, and it was just consoles, Wouldn't that mean the games would be a lot worse? Also wouldn't devs be like "Oh, Hit maximum this console can push, I Will just ship the game for every platform like this now" if Gaming PC's weren't around.
Sorry i probably sound like a idiot, i hope i get my point across.

TL;DR

Without PC Gaming, There would be No need for a new console to come out, Because people wouldn't know how good something could become.

I tought it was around 60 fps, or the maximum refresh rate of the monitor. Anyways i know too little about that topic

On THIS topic, im just thinking that for the xbox 720, AT LEAST use the next gen of that gpu, probably 7770. Using a previous gen GPU while there is a new gen right around the corner seems rather stupid. I dont really know if a 7770 would be that expensive for a console. Even then we have to wait it is released as all of the 7000 series card are not released yet.

look whats in the 360 and ps3 now.

look at what they can play.

look how old they are.

a 6670 in a console will be excellent for pc gamers because it means our systems might finally start to be utilized.

  5. Developer can optimize for one hardware setup and don't have to worry software to be robust as much.
In short, console are good price to performance ratio, and easy maintain.
With equal hardware console would be faster than general propose computers, despite hardware being the same in term of speed.
That said, general propose computer offer their own set of advantages.

A 7770 would probably be a pretty good choice considering its low power need but if history is anything to go by they could use something even faster. Thou Tahiti is probably to power hungry as I would suspect that over all system wattage needs to be kept under 250w.

By Moore's law, each year computer get 2 time more powerful, while technology is not improving as fast as 2 time nowadays due to heat/power problem. 10 times doesn't sound unfeasible for most game consumer. To demonstrate this, assume Xbox 360 is 1.5 time more powerful each following year, then it would be 1.5 ^ 6 = 11.39 times more powerful by now.
Like I said, from a cost standpoint 10x more powerful isn't going to happen unless Sony/MS want to do the same thing as the 360/ps3 and put a top-end GPU on it ( 7970 and GTX 680, whereas the ps3/360 had a 7800/1900xt )

I wish everyone would stop thinking of a complete 1:1 relation and think more fundamentally such as with transistor density and thermal budget. The original Xbox is about 1/7th of a 360 considering a crude translation in specs while not considering the efficiency gains of newer hardware and manufacturing processes. It would take a lot more than ten original Xbox's to pull off something like high-dynamic range light such as with Halo 3 - one of the only games in existence to make use of HDR mind you.

I expect a mid-range 8000k series for the nextBox.

Actually its 24, but you'll notice difference until 60 fps in games as we call it "to run more fluid".

But films, series, etc. its @24fps.

OnTopic: I like where this is going. Cant wait to see that UE4 strugling a $1000 PC of today.
