Movies are an entirely different experience too. You don't interact with films.


You do games, and you can FEEL the difference of higher frames, which can make the difference between winning or losing.

You're right, you don't get the point.

Fixed hardware is one of those points, which means upgrading a console would make the experience worse. Game developers can produce games much faster and more efficiently for fixed hardware. Having fixed hardware means a direct interface to the hardware without drivers, if you want upgrade-able hardware then developers now have to develop a game engine to run on multiple versions of the same console, or you now need drivers, which hurts performance greatly. Fixed hardware also means that when a developer makes a game for a console, they know every single one of the owners of that console will be able to purchase and play their game, you start making hardware upgrades and you fragment the community.

Imo producing games faster = producing crappy rehashed games like mw2,blops,mw3.....it seems to be a bad thing as no creativity is being put into the games all they want to do is pump them out faster and make money, not make a good product.

That is what I hate about consoles, they just slow creativity and reduce the chances of anyone actually making a game like crysis again. I mean if you had tri-sli 8800ultra you couldn't even run that @ 1080p max settings. They need to start making games that challenge the hardware.

I mean one overclocked 580 or 7970 can max out BF3 completely with 50-60fps+ @ 1080p.

It depends on the color and intensity, also, with more FPS, motion seems much more fluid. It can be anywhere from 60-200+ hertz, also depending on the person and their age

I really just can't wait to see it. I went back and watched the original Unreal 3 tech video again which came out in 2004, 2004!!!

It may not be as big as jump if they're focusing on consoles more but still, pretty damn exciting.

Right..., so what does consoles or hardware have to do with the choices publishers and developers make for games? The reason games continue to get rehashed is because people continue to buy them in record amounts. Sure I would like te developers to make something more original, but you can't blame them more making stuff the masses are buying in droves.

Wow just wow. Its really hard to believe they could run that in real time back in 04. There was not even SLI back then so that was achieved with a single card.
