I know my res isnt high and at the same time I dont know if the 460 will have high usage or just be wasted. I think that is the main thing that is bothering me with this purchase

If you are unsure because of low usage, go with the 1GB 4870 as a second choice! I still have a rig running at 1440 x 900 with this card and a I3-540 processor and it performs fine!

It should look better. Your GTX 460 shouldn't bottleneck any single card, I have a i3-2100 and GTX 460, it is just fine.

Yup, those games at that res with a GTX 460 will be no problem. Have fun!

GTX 460 is worth the extra money. The 4870 is good but is getting a bit old for newer games. You will like the extra fps in Fallout 3 wink.gif

The GTX 460 is the most powerful card of the three you've listed. I know you mentioned that you won't be playing BF3... but for the sake of reference, I was able to run BF3 on high settings at 1680x1050 with decent fps.

LOL fallout 3 is a older game now. Skyrim will probably be the one game that really requires the gtx 460 out of all the games i listed.

Some of those games the gtx 460 gets beat by the hd4870. I hate shopping for used budget video cards, I go thru this every time I do it.

Well yes Fallout 3 is getting old but it does need some GPU power when you turn up the settings. I remember playing it on a single 4890 and wishing I had more umph, that was @ 1080p but still.
