Could use some help buying a ssd to last me at least half a decade

I am looking for a Reliable ssd to last for at least 5 years, It needs to be at least 100gb to run a os, a few games and some basic programs like firefox. The most important thing is that it last for a long time and I have heard quite a few stories of ssd's failing quickly. I don't really care much about one ssd being 10/15% faster than another one as long as it lasts me.
My budget is 150€ max and since I live in the Netherlands showing me links to us/uk shops would be pointless.
On another note: I will be making use of symbolic links quite a lot to only place the right files onto the ssd.

Nobody really knows how long these things will last yet as they haven't even been on the market for 5 years. I dont think any company provides a warranty on them longer than 2 years.

At the moment though it is widely accepted that the Crucial M4 is one of the best and most reliable SSD's available. If not THE best and most reliable. I guarantee most of the following responses will say the same. Apparently the samsung 850 is another good choice. I stand by crucial though as I have had the crucial C300 and now have the M4. Both brilliant.

Intel are known for their reliability. I'd say go with any SSD that uses the Marvell Controller: Intel 510, Crucial M4/Micron C400 <- same thing, Corsair Performance Pro, Plextor M3

The Plextor M3 drives have a 3 year warranty. As far as i know thats the longest in the lineup.

You mean 5 year warranty I have a Plextor M3 Series 128GB next to me. wink.gif

My "quick" list of suggested drives:
  • Crucial M4
  • Samsung 830/470
  • Corsair Performance Pro
  • Plextor M3 Series
  • Intel 510/320

Any of the above should do you fine. Warranty wise the Plextor may be up your route.

Warranty wise every ssd has at least 3 years warranty due to EU regulations.
I found out that of those posted above there are two clearly the cheapest and those are the Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 and the Intel 320 120GB.
From what I can see the intel has the benefit of 5 years warranty and the m4 has 8gb extra capacity and is 2€ cheaper (very significant).
