Which graphics card I need for 120hz monitor/gaming

I'm thinking of buying a 120hz monitor, but I don't know if every card can handle the 120hz (I have no idea so please don't bash on me for saying that haha)
But does 120hz require a certain graphic card?

What card would I need?
I want to play games at 120hz

I was thinking of the new BenQ XL2420T monitor or the Alienware one

Most cards can handle 120hz mode, the thing you'll have to worry about is if your GPU can handle 120fps @ 1080 - I'd say you want a newer GPU, in the 6950 / 560ti / 570 + range to get the most out of your display, otherwise it's pointless having a 120hz display but only being able to say display 30fps

Alright so with a gtx 560 TI +, 120hz will be no problem right?
No stuttering or anything?

It's going to depend what games you play and what kind of settings you play them on. If you have the need to max out all the settings then I don't think a 560ti is going to be enough.

Yea I was thinking of waiting for the kepler cards to come out, but I'd be playing at 1920x1080 (i think thats the size) most likely maxed settings

I don't think there is a single card out there today that can maintain 120 fps in any current game at max settings @ 1080p (i.e. crysis, crysis2, BF3, metro2033).

120hz monitor is kind of pointless unless you are gaming in 3d or are running a sli/crossfire setup, unless you want to lower the settings.
