gskill or hyperx?

Thread Starter
hi i have a 2x2gig set o 6-6-6-19 2.1v ddr2 1066mhz gskill memory, and yesterday i got alot of stuff from my old teacher in highschool and in it was 2 sets of kingston hyperx 2x2gig 5-5-5-18 667 mhz cl4 ddr 2. my question is witch would be better for overclocking stability on my cpu the 4 gigs of gskill or the 8 gigs of hyperx. i have no clue of how ram timings and such work and my ram always just gets turned down as far as possible to get higher fsb on my cpu. Also will i see much if any performance boost in games and benchmarks with 8 gigs instead of 4?

The Gskill. Higher frequency, decent timings, less RAM to deal with when overclocking. Also, higher CPU speeds are not as easily achieved when you have a lot of RAM. (In terms of number of sticks in some cases)

However!

Hyper X is more efficient, better timings (faster data fetch between CPU and RAM) and may use less voltage and have much more capacity which is good for multitasking and gaming, however the frequency (speed in mhz) is much lower!

Stick with G-Skill. If you find you are underclocking the RAM in general and/or are in need of higher capacity, just switch to the Hyper X.

like i said the ram always gets under clocked to the lowest frequency i can because it seams to let me get my cpu higher and still be stable
