If your machine is an HP (meaning you bought it pre-built) it may not be able to handle much overclocking. They use pretty crappy components when they build those things. Also, before you go screwing around in the BIOS, make sure you know how to reset your CMOS settings (may be a jumper, or you may have to remove the CMOS battery) so that if the changes you make render the computer unbootable, you can reset it all. You definitely don't want to kill your machine changing settings you don't fully understand. Nonetheless, if you're interested, this is pretty helpful:

What kind of BIOS do you have and Which Motherboard do you have.
My FX-6100 is set to 4,3 GHz and is working fine.
