First Impression of Tera Online? - Page 3

I've been following this game for what seems like forever. I pre-ordered it so I got into the CBT obviously. I played the entire weekend. I got my Lancer up to Lv22, did a lot of dungeons, fought some world bosses, soloed random mobs, played some PvP, did some Deathmatches as well. I never got bored of it and I personally think that this game is amazing. I don't see how you can dislike this game if you like playing MMORPGs.

But... The real reason I posted in this thread is because of this. Is there anyone running SLI or Crossfire that was able to play the Closed Beta or else played the Korean version of the game? I'm just wondering how well it ran on your setups. I'm reading here and there that CF and SLI are horribly supported in this game and some claim not at all. They say that you get the same FPS or even less FPS when running CF or SLI in this game and you also get a lot of microstutters during gameplay. But instead of trusting weird websites, I'd rather trust the my fellow people here at OCN.

Any info would be very helpful, thanks!

I played in during closed beta 1 with a pair of GTX 460s. In most areas I had constant 60 fps with vsync forced through Nvidia control panel. The only time it dropped was from high populated areas such as the main city and the starting zone. The gpu usage on each card was pretty low, less then 50% but was consistent with both cards and was using less than half of my 1gb of VRAM. Don't think I ever experienced any micro stutter either.

I agree. I don't understand the hate on this game as all. Tons of people speculating that it is a Korean Grinder when you could have hit cap this weekend on two toons with time to spare. I run dual HD 6850's and my FPS was crap. I dropped to 15 fps in the big city. I hope this next beta they release SLI/Crossfire support.

I didn't follow the game much but have been hearing mixed reviews left and right. I was able to get a beta key but was only able to play for about 2 hours.

I'm really looking for everyone else's opinions since I'm still on the fence. I'm almost tempted to pre order with ebgames just for beta access and cancel my order just in case.

From the first 6 lvls (played as a healer) it was enjoyable. Targeting system was unique and boy did I miss when I dueled another person. The game looks better than Star Wars which is a plus. However it did feel more of a grind.. there was already lvl 20's which was about the cap. So it can't be that much or a grind..

Looking to hear thoughts on end game content and just opinions if its worth getting. I felt let down with star wars and gw2 seems like a long way off.

Same thing for me, I hear news about TERA Online bit by bit. Eventually yesterday I took a long read at TERA Online website and I am in fact still confuse about certain things. As far as I know there is no Faction but NPC vs Players then you have Guild vs Guild as in PVP. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Is TERA Online majorly focus in PVP?

The game engine ran much better this time around on Crossfire. Anyone else play on a pvp server? Man people were getting ganked left and right. Silly carebears were complaining how they couldn't quest because of this. Nice too see most people responded PVE SERVER ---> Way. Guild Vs. Guild was a neat feature. Your guild could declare war on another guild. For 24 hours it would rack up who got the most kills of the other guild and a guild would get more points for killing another guild's guildmaster. So you could form a party and go guild hunting. Saw and nice little battle in the open world of these two other guilds going at it. Something like 15 on 15, neat stuff.

What system do you run when you play? I'm still debating on Crossfire for this, either that or just do a 7970 if microstuttering is an issue or if Crossfire doesn't do a lot for this.

What server did you play on? I was on Valley of Titans and I'll probably stay there alongside my guild until the end of CBT. Might even stay there for OBT and Retail.

AMD FX-6100, HD 6850x2, 8gb Ram 1600. I also ran on Valley of Titans.

Haha, you might have seen me then. My character was Soul, I was rolling with the guild World Boss.

But yeah, how did it run? Any microstuttering? How as your FPS in Velika this time around? I get roughly 30-40 with my 6950.

The questing in the game is probably the most bland of any MMO I've played. It's very similar to Aion in the respect that every quest is either kill or gather. If you're looking for engaging questing, the game won't be for you. However, the game is absolutely beautiful and it ran incredibly well on my system. The combat isn't revolutionary (Dragon Nest and Vindictus come to mind), but it is the best implementation so far. The Bastion dungeon wasn't anything special from the one time I did it. I'll definitely play the game at release, but I don't see it being much more than a gap filler between SWTOR and GW2/Diablo 3.
