If you guys wanna check out the game or see what it's like for the NA release... I've been recording and posting videos from my gaming thus far from CBT1 and CBT2. http://www.youtube.com/catseateggs

its gonna be subscription based?

Also will it have stuff like region lock?

I would hate it if it does have a lock, like even if I will get a local edition of the game, the LAST crowd of people I want to play MMO with would be the local people (100x more so if the whole game gets translated to local language)

What about TERA's payment system?

Like other MMORPG titles, TERA will use a monthly subscription model with a retail box. Cost, fee structure, and payment methods are not yet finalized.

meh, im at work tongue.gif

How much was vanilla WoW per month? and how much is it now? I'll use that as a reference

reason I ask is, I dont get all that much play time out of my daily life anymore, probably 1.5 hours on a weekday and 6 hours (total) on a 2-day weekend in low seasons of the job, down to as low as 0.5 (or 0) hours on a weekday and 2 hours on a 2-day weekend in peak seasons, so the price has to be attractive for me to jump in.

after all i'm wanting to play these for the look of the characters only, if the prices aren't good I'll just go back to playing all the offline RPGs just cuz I can drag them as long as I have to. It's not like these MMOs have revolutionary skill systems or something that I must try

But Tera is revolutionary and gameplay and you must try it. The game is Rated M if that helps you decide. I opted to do the 6 month sub at 9.99 a month.

oh $10 a month aint so bad

But its not just about Tera, its about Tera vs Guild wars 2

I can't be subscribing to 2 MMOs with about 15 hours of play time per month, come on now!

The fee is 10 bucks if you order 6 months at a time, and it's only available for one time through pre-order. Once the game starts rolling it'll be 15 bucks a month I think.

They said that it is locked to NA only for the NA release. I think EU is locked to EU only. Not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure. Even the Korean and Japan ones are locked to their region. Though people have been able to get on those by getting Korean SSN or something like that.

depends on what kind of "lock" we're talking about here

If you're talking about regular local identity numbers, there should be ways around that, and it won't affect performance

But if you're talking about real locks like regional IP.........there are obviously ways around that too but.....getting a foreign IP is not only hard, but would drastically affect performance.....I've tried that in a game like 6 years ago, I would know the bad news 5 seconds AFTER I DIED.....So its like you gotta start running at 1/3 hp or something, and apparently you won't be casting no skills to win you back the fight during that time

the delay alone is enough to make a ledgendary game pathetic, not to mention possible lags and spikes

However that time I tried I was in the US(playing a game for asia) with like a 3M connection, THIS TIME I'm in asia with a 100M connection, don't know how that will improve things (cuz game requirements have gone up too, not only my connection speed), but I sure as hell don't know if I want to dish out 6 x $10 to "see" if it works

I'll see how that goes, if its truely region locked then there goes my chance of playing.
