Should I get a console over PC? - Page 3

This is the most biased place you could ask a question like this lol.

But if you plan on taking whatever you game on to friends houses to have a "brodown", renting games, less power consumption, more mainstream support, and not having to worry about seeing if you meet specs then get a console.

If you want vastly superior graphics, the ability to re download your games if your disc gets scratched, great sales, and the opportunity to participate in tons of BETAs, go PC.

If you want both, buy yourself a 360 and a nice PC.

PC gets my vote, otherwise getting both would be the best option.

after being a PC gamer for a long time, i can not stand any console (on HDMI) the graphics suck, i would say most games on consoles lag stutter and makes it unplayable. you can not customize your console plus you wont have mouse/keyboard<3. i personally cant deal with consoles. so good luck making your choice and i hope its a well thought one smile.gif

I will be honest. PC gets my vote. I have had both consoles & honestly they just dont compare & the games on consoles are expensive. Steam & many other places always have great sales

You can probably guess what people are going to lean towards given the type of forum you are on...

TBH id only factor in friends a small bit, Because if your gonna be playing online your gonna meet more people and your gonna want to play with said people. In the end you will most likely have more online friends then irl friends who you game with.

God no lol. PSN is terrible compared to Xbox Live. It's not just me, everyone I know says that they prefer the "organization" of XBL. It feels more user friendly, everything is more streamlined, more socially connected (Xbox Live parties allow for cross game chat between many users), and the major updates that come out every 2 years keep it feeling fresh, but still familiar. Unlike the PS3s awful and terribly dated XMB. Another gripe I have with the PS3 is it's junky management of background downloading. The 360 also feels more media oriented, which in a way, makes it feel more like a computer than a console compared to the PS3.

I own both, so I'm not just speaking blindly here. I just really think the PS3's OS needs a lot of tweaking. If the next PlayStation is like the PS3, I think I'll skip it.

The 360 isn't all perfect either. They pretty much shove XBL Gold down your throat by making you purchase it in order to get access to newly released demos, watch Netflix, use YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, play online or join an Xbox Live party. They had the RRoD problem (but in fairness, they DID offer extended warranties on the consoles and pretty much fix it with the current Xbox 360 ) Also, there's the proprietary charging cables for controllers, the lack of internal battery packs in controllers, and pretty much all accessories are proprietary and over priced (I got around the Hard Drive problem by flashing my own though.)

There's my rant. Not trying to offend anyone, but these are strong points to consider when buying a console. I simply think when going console that you should choose a 360 over the PS3. If you have the money, definitely get both. Or if you don't care about the console exclusives, get yourself a nice PC.

I will repeat this again.

What platform do your friends play on?

also if you have never played a pc, consoles seem like godly machines.

Thread Starter
If I had to chose I would definately go with ps3 over xbox 3 because it has blue ray, free online play and browser.
Also btw I notice a lot of ppl telling me to get a pc I already have one its in my sig lol

I kinda don't want to spend any $$ on games tho if I order gamefly Ill be on the hook for $23/mo ...
