I beta tested Gamefly's PC system and while the concept is good their game selection sucks. The way it works is that as long as you are a Gamefly member you can play any of their PC games as long as you want, but if you cancel your subscription the games will not work. This is fun in the short term, but obviously in the long term you never get to actually own the games unless you plan on being a Gamefly member your whole life lol. Of course if you try a game and you really like it you can always buy it yourself. My main concern was which games they would be able to provide us.

The selection in the beta was TERRIBLE. The best game they had up was the first Assassin's Creed and it was all downhill from there. From what I can see now the game selection hasn't changed much and while they carry newer PC games they still charge you full price to buy them. So if you like playing outdated games for "free" then it's a good idea otherwise you won't have access to the latest titles so therefore won't be saving any money.

I have never rented a game so I don't really know about that but buying games on PC is not expensive. Just popped up my steam store transactions and here are some highlights:

Oblivion GOTYD 6.24€
Crysis Complete 4.99€
Trine 1.99€
Metro 2033 2.50€
Just Cause 2 4.99€

Sure the latest blockbuster will cost a fair bit but if you have the patients to wait a while PC gaming can be very cheap.

Yeah Steam always has great sales, especially this last Christmas sale. I ended up spending more than I should have :X

troll thread? biggrin.gif

but in all seriousness

consoles are definitely cheaper but you don't get the same freedom as pc games. it all comes down whether you're a singleplayer or multiplayer guy and what all your friends have, as said in a couple of other posts in this thread

I kinda don't want to spend any $$ on games tho if I order gamefly Ill be on the hook for $23/mo ...

I would easily choose a xbox over ps3 anyday and i have both. Xbox 360 while you may have to pay for it has so much better services. Majority of people that i know play xbox over ps3. If you have an entire group of friends that play ps3 then more power to you but all my friends prefer the xbox.

I would honestly go for the PS3 because of the exclusives.

Most xbox360 exculusives are already in PC. Not all of them of course.
