Your logic is extremely flawed. Are you really comparing a Smart phone to a gaming handheld? You do know that phones are only dual core's & barely have enough GPU power to even run the games that are made for it. I have many high end phones & gaming on a phone is complete rubbish.

go ahead and keep playing Angry birds on your 200-600 dollar phone.

The ps vita specifically caters to the hard core market. These people that say "Oh my smartphone beats the vita in every level" are ass hats. *forgive my dirty language*
Go use your smartphone to play casual games, ill stick to the vita where i will be playing games that a smartphone user can only dream of.

The iPhone 4S already has a gimped version of the processor/GPU that the PS Vita is equipped with.

Smart phones will have this in a matter of 6 months or less. Guaranteed.

Even if a smart phone did get 4 cores & a better GPU the problem will still be they have 0 good games to show off the tech & playing a game with a touch screen is garbage. Ok so now you have a souped up Angry Birds

portable gaming is a waste of time IMO whether it's on a smartphone or dedicated unit. But that's just me, maybe a 10 year old would like this.

For those comparing this to a smartphone:

Smartphones have drivers for their software, this does not, so it's already running about 30% faster off the bat. Smartphones do not have dual analog stick, or a touchscreen on the back.

Smartphone is to the Vita as a PC is to a console. Some will prefer the device that does everything (Smartphone, PC), some will prefer the dedicated gaming device (Vita, console). The dedicated hardware will always be more efficient, but will have obsolete hardware within a year. People that like games, regardless of hardware and platform will care less what device it is and will be busy playing games while the elitists whine about hardware somehow defining how fun a game can be.

Oh give me a break. You honestly believe that people are going to play angry birds on the next generation of smartphones? It was a cool fad when people had weak smartphones that couldn't do much more. Have you taken a look at the specs on the Samsung Galaxy S II or the iPhone 4S? They are graphic power houses. The next generation of smartphones will be even more powerful than them.

This is what I don't understand about the PS Vita. The hardware is pretty good, but for the price they're charging, what do you get? Basically, a souped up smart phone without the ability to make calls or send text messages.

That's a pass in my book. Not worth the money. At least nintendo's DS and 3DS have 2 screens.

Nintendo DS & 3DS had 2 screens cool but just like a smart phone had poor games, Childish games at that. The 3DS & DS's hardware is terrible. I am sorry but Smart phones have nothing for games at all so what is the point of souping up a Smart phone with a higher end GPU & a 4 Core CPU? Ok so now you have a Souped up phone for what purpose?

Here we go about the price of the Vita again lol $250.00 is nothing. You can collect bottles n cans out of a trash can and get $2500.00 plus in a good couple weeks. Believe me I know a few people who do this.

Dont get me wrong I love my phones but playing games on my phones are terrible, No real games, using a touch screen is Meh, No Analog sticks. Smart phones are good for one thing, Internet, Videos, Calling ,TXTing. Not gaming

You do realize that when the iphone 4s was released, the price for an unlocked one was $650. The ps vita 3g bundle is $300.. The retail price for the 3ds when it was first released was $250.. Granted, if ps vita sales plummet like that of the 3ds, vita system prices will drop too. You can't compare a smartPHONE to a ps vita Game Console. The former satisfies a portion of one market, while the latter satisfies another of a separate market..
