I've always been a phone junkie, I'll save the 300 towards my next phone. There's just so much more that can be done.

please do not compare iphone/android appstore "games" to real games.

The next generation of smartphones will be even more powerful than them.
This is what I don't understand about the PS Vita. The hardware is pretty good, but for the price they're charging, what do you get? Basically, a souped up smart phone without the ability to make calls or send text messages.
That's a pass in my book. Not worth the money. At least nintendo's DS and 3DS have 2 screens.

I, for one don't care about gaming on next gen smartphones simply because gaming on a smartphone is not very pleasant at all and the games available don't don't even come close to offering the amount of depth you would get on a dedicated gaming device . PS Vita takes care of that easily. Also, I'm pretty sure that the people out there that are getting the vita don't care about making calls or sending texts messages, that's what phones are for and that's their primary function.

I just don't understand why some people insist on comparing the vita to a smartphone when gaming on a smartphone is just terrible. Imagine playing something like Metal Gear or God Of War strictly on touch controls.....uh, just awful.

A smartphone can do a lot of things but gaming is not one of it's greatest abilities.

Ok so now you have a Souped up phone for what purpose?

Here we go about the price of the Vita again lol $250.00 is nothing. You can collect bottles n cans out of a trash can and get $2500.00 plus in a good couple weeks. Believe me I know a few people who do this.

Dont get me wrong I love my phones but playing games on my phones are terrible, No real games, using a touch screen is Meh, No Analog sticks. Smart phones are good for one thing, Internet, Videos, Calling ,TXTing. Not gaming

I totally agree with you that smartphones aren't suited for gaming but saying that the DS had poor games ? It was one of the better handled of all times, even though the touch screen was a gimmick in most games it still had tons of wonderful games, "hardcore" games too not only childish games.

Anyway, I don't understand people playing on phones, the oroginal Gameboy is a much superior gamine machine than any phone will ever be.

Yes you have to pay for 1 month service to get your free game plus I think with the data access item you get it gives you a free month as well.

Except no one cares about those games anymore. Handheld games were always meant for on the go, not all day at home.

I agree with you 100%.

People should never ever compare smartphone games to those played on actual handheld game consoles. It doesn't matter how good the graphics are on either device. The problem is SMARTPHONES DONT HAVE BUTTONS. A touch screen is pretty much only good for 2d puzzle games. Real games need hardware buttons and for 3D FPS/Platformer games you also need an analog stick. This is the reason the PSP did not beat the DS last generation. The PSP focused on 3D games while being equipped with only one analog "nub" which was very uncomfortable to play with. The DS had no analog sticks but focused mostly on 2D games. The few games that were 3D were overall simpler than PSP games.

Back in the day when the game boy was still around (R.I.P frown.gif), all games were 2D, so analog sticks were not required and no one missed the absence of them.

I think the PS Vita as it is now (with two actual analog sticks, rather than 1 nub), having a similar form factor to the game boy, is the perfect device for modern handheld gaming.

Guys who needs a vita when I've got DOODLE JUMP on my DUAL CORE FULL TOUCH DEVICE???!?!one1one!!

Seriously though, if you have to resort to comparing your phone to a dedicated mobile gaming device, it's not for you.

In other news I just got uncharted and wipeout from amazon. These game cases are super tiny!

Let's face it guys, the guys who are ok with their phones for gaming weren't meant to have a hardcore device like this in the first place. thumb.gif Glad others are seeing it now, I remember when I first started posting Vita news it was me against the world ( mostly ), but now people are realizing its just offering something phones cannot, a real gaming device smile.gif.
