Placing the case on the floor will allow the coolest air available in the room to flow through your case. Only downside is that you have to work harder to keep your case clean. Cases on the floor tend to suck up more debris from the floor (like cat hair and dirt particles). Placing it under a desk might lessen the amount of dust that gets to it, just be mindful if you have any pets. My kitty likes to rub all over my case because he knows it will draw my attention from the game I'm playing. tongue.gif

Indeed, the ground air is alway cooler than height ... principle of physics! and another principle of physics, of course,, is the dust is literally sucked into the air intake! Height = clean computer,,, ground = better overclock;)

Yeah, like I said. Keeping it on the floor requires you working harder to keep it clean. ZOMG that translates to vacuuming my vents when I vacuum the floors ever week or two, and taking a can of air to the inside of my case every 2-3 months (which only takes a couple of minutes). Some of us dont vacuum/dust our computer rooms often enough, and that's when dust buildup becomes a problem. If you'd just clean your computer when you clean your room, it's nothing. IMHO that little bit of work is worth the cooler temps. As also mentioned by previous posters, the volume on my GPU fans can get pretty load, so being on the floor makes it tolerable. I think that if you are willing to take care of your rig (keeping it clean/keeping the room it's in clean), there aren't really too many legitimate arguements for NOT keeping it on the floor. (that doesn't mean there arent any at all)

I dont think a 700mm height difference will make much of a difference in terms of temps LOL.

I had my HAF-X on the floor because it is a great footrest. But with my Midi, I have it on my desk and cut a window in it, because it is just so pwetty to look at :3

I have mine on the floor, my brother has his on his desk. Although, my computer is much larger than his (which is a mATX case).

I keep my HAF-X on the floor. I don't like my desk too cluttered. I use the casters that the case came with so that it sits off the floor.

i know! as soon as I made my isolated intake airflow 4 reach positive and clean pressure,,, it took two weeks for my front grill becomes full of dust XD! my tower is has about 12 "of ground on its bed box!!

700

clean

443
my positive pressure sensor fly well above
443

after 1 week

700

Dirty after 2 week !!!

700
and my sensor starts to be very low or a float inside! : O: O negative pressure allows to return to dust!

Wow, that is a huge difference in air flow because of the dust. What you need is a piece of magnetized screen or something similar to just throw over top of and intake fans. If it's held on by magnets, you can just as easily take it off to clean it, or show off your sexy rig thumb.gif
