Wth? U guys are reconmendimg a six core chip witch normaly hits 4ghz over an 8 that hits 5ghz? What r u smoking? The 11xxt's are awsome chips but the 81xx are the most powerful. Get a good aircooler, overclock it to like 4.6~4.8ghz and stop buying the faildozer bs.

if you are with fx already and plan to do multimedia then go to tomhardware 2 february article on opencl.this is a must read .i suggest you get the 8150 and use arcsoft software (opencl version)you ll be using their new techno that make use of gpu and cpu calibration gimic.like i say check tomhardware result .it is a early techno but so far it looks very promissing and it scale up so if it detect say 2000 gpu cpu it will be at a setting if it detec only 400 cpu gpu it will scale down and use more of the cpu.go read the article!if you dont plan to do multimedia (like swifty athene ,toweliee.then i would still sugesst amd cause you already are geared for amd and the different at 1920x1080x32@60 hz is so little the margin of error alone eat all the difference

ps!i would even just buy arcsoft software first without any change and test it!to see if i like the result!

It is 1ghz difference core for core. Do your research. Get some more rep.

OP, you have a 95 to 1 ratio of good reccomendations. Go with the 95% thumb.gif

hmm, I can't give a first person recomendation here, but most of those programs have pretty ssteady loads, so a FX might work well. I'd save the money on the 8150 and get a 8120 and just bump the clock speed.

With good cooling, you should be able to get 4.5ghz with great stability and reasonable power consumption.I wouldn't clocl any thuban 1045-1055 much over 3.6ghz with that work load though, you'll burn it down.fx8120-8150 might be a good fit here.

He is right, pick up a 8120 or if you absolutly must have the best of amd, 8150 (but i would get the 20) also ive seen many 24/7 overclocks much higher, like 5ghz on a 212evo and not cracking 65 degrees. One thing is they suck power like an eight fanged vampire so make sure you have a good psu.
