Seasonic or Corsair Purchase: 1000w Platinum, 1250w Gold or 1200w Gold - Page 2

might also want to consider the HCP-1200 if you are bent on getting a 1200w unit. as for a 1000w platinum, id suggest the kingwin lazer plat over the seasonic, as its a better performer + cheaper

Both Seasonic units tested significant better then the Kingwin supply so I would not go that route.

not according to jonnyguru's review. the kingwin platinum slew the seasonic, only thing the seasonic really had going for it was better minor rail reg. 12v reg was equal, the kingwin had better ripple supression, better transient spike scores, better efficiency and, most importantly, a better price

np. op, i think the platinum seasonics/kingwins will perform identically, so if your perogative is to save money id go the kingwin route. if your perogative is being fully modular, then go the seasonic

What about a superflower one? They are known to be slightly better than seasonic ones.

If I were in your shoes I'd get the Seasonic platinum. I've been nothing but pleased with mine. On the other hand if the absolute best in class is what you want the Kingwin probabally is your best bet and it's a bit cheaper. Really though the performance difference between the two is negligible. For me paying a bit extra for the peace of mind is worth it but I could see paying less for what is supposed to be a slightly better unit.

As far as running two 7970s though you'd be able to do that on an X750.

Just wanted to point out one thing

NOTE: That's a direct quote from the performance section in his review.

Also in your first post you said that it slew rolleyes.gif the SeaSonic. Dude, with these power supplies, there's nothing "slaying" anything else. The minor ripple suppression that was better was so tiny that you'd never even notice the difference. However, the voltage regulation was worse than the SeaSonic unit.

I personally think that the unit's will perform identically. They both seem like quality units for sure. However, it seems as though you like to keep your PSU's running for quite a while Eric, with that said, the Kingwin unit only has a 3 year warranty as opposed to the SeaSonic's 7 year warranty.

So just for warranties sake, I'd personally go with the SeaSonic. (But then again I probably wouldn't buy anything else to put in to one of my rigs anyway biggrin.gif )
