Sony Xb700 Or Audio Technicas

Looking to pick up my first decent headset and get rid of these turtle beaches lol. I was looking at the sony xb700s since the reviews on it were really postitive and have good bass since im mainly going to be using it for gaming and listening to music at home but Was wondering if anyone knows a website where I could get these new at a decent price and not overpriced like on amazon and eBay. Also how would audiotechnica AD700 headsets be compared to these or the a700s since there kinda in between and have more bass then the ADs.

Well...let me put it to you this way.

http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=2631&graphID[]=2661&graphID[]=1193

rolleyes.gif if you want bass that will blow your ears off, the Sonys have that in spades and are incredibly comfortable, but if you want to reproduce music in a way that is close to the way it was supposed to sound, the Sony XB isn't even on the same planet as either of the Audio-Technicas.

I would get the A700 out of those three, but I'd take the ~$160 ATH-M50s over all three, as you can see by the graphs the A700/AD700 both roll off before they get down to the low bass notes so they will sound lacking for games, and the Sonys have way, way too much bass. The M50s has a much flatter frequency response, but isn't known for an exceptionally wide soundstage.

If it were my money, I'd still pick the ATH-M50s but get it from somewhere like headphone.com that gives you a 30 day return option. (they carry all three headphones you listed, btw, so if you're patient you could buy one and try it, return it, try another, etc. I've bought and returned several headphones from them before deciding on my HD650s and ATH-M50s).

Truthfully I like bass and all but not to much bass, so I might just try the a700s first. Are there any other differences as well between the ad700 and a700 then the bass?

Anyone know what's the average price of these headsets and if anyone had links to them that are from a legit site? The xbs seem hard to come by.

I got my XBs on amazon. About 70$, but I see they don't have them in stock any more. I didn't know that you could see headphone drivers flex. then I got these. The sound quality doesn't really compare to other headphones like Remonster said, but they do have good bass.

You're wanting them for gaming. No brainer here. XB700s are awful for gaming, so are the M50s. The A700s/AD700s don't nearly have any bass. For under 100, you'd probably want the Samson SR850s. Save yourself a bunch of money too. No need to try and find a deal as well.

Nope, SR850s are much superior to the RX700s in gaming.
