Recommend a PSU around $150 - Page 2

The TX-M there is a terrible value compared to the others. Also, skip the HX if you want something quieter. I'm guessing you're planning on running SLI later? Even then, 750W is already enough. I guess 850W is slightly preferred if you're going to be running SLI and want it to be very slightly quieter.

Because the price difference is only $10 between the 750W and 850W and both are under your target, I'd think about the XFX XXX Edition 850W for $130 before rebate:

135mm fan
250

That's quite loud at the right side, but you'll never hit loads in that range unless you add another GTX 570 and really really stress the whole system. The Silverstones are also decent options, but that's a good price for a very high quality power supply.

edit: btw in case you were confused, XFX changed the name and color of the fan. The Black Edition is now called the XXX Edition, since the newer lineup now is taking the Black Edition name.

http://www.newegg.ca/

Newegg has a canadian site.

Looks like the AX-850 is 199.99 there, and they do not have a 15% off code available. Too bad!

I picked up the AX750 for $149 (after $20 rebate) a couple of weeks ago on newegg. Vary happy with it so far...and it has a 7 year warranty.

Deal is still live: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139016&Tpk=ax%20750

EDIT: Dang, it's even a better deal now...given that the page now lists a promo code for an additional 15% (like the AX850). That brings it to about $125 after rebate.

Find a friend on the border! smile.gif

cheers,
Scuba

I think I'm going to get the AX850. All the reviews say it's very quiet and efficient, just going to have to go a little over the budget.

I'm looking for around 850w because I may sli in the future or even SLI 6xx or 7xx cards so I just like to futureproof a little, who knows what I will get 1-2 years down the line.

So I'm going to go out and get my PSU in about 6 hours and actually I think I am going to go with this one:

Seasonic Platinum 860

It's only $20 more then the AX850 and is 80+ plat so if I am spending around $200 might as well get the best.
