well, it's convenient, it's all set and running the way I like, all my old printers and game controllers with no w7 support works, all my favorite softwares are installed,
also I tend to have a better experience in some games which I play more often (could be related to the amount of ram I have), but I probably could fix many of these problems on 7, there is also the excess of services running when I start it, but I only use it as a secondary OS when it's really needed,
basically it works and is what I'm used to (have being using it since 2001), I have no problems using different versions, at the end of the day I just enjoy using XP more, and I'm well aware of some disadvantages, but for my personal use it's fine...

I used it up until October 2010 when I did my last build. I didn't like Vista so I skipped it and I usually don't upgrade my OS unless I do a new build. Once I switched to Windows 7 though I've loved it. Never had a problem with a lack of support for anything, printers and controllers included. When I 1st decided to go from XP to 7 I wasn't that enthusiastic about it because I really liked XP. Once I made the switch I was very happy with 7 though.

Hey OP, you can just use Win 7 and just use a VM for XP if you need all the compilers and stuff to work.

As for HMBR who needs the devices to work, sorry, no way around that

My little brother's computer uses it, 1. because Windows 7 is slow on a Pentium 4 with 1.2 Gb of ram, 2. For some reason Minecraft didn't work with the onboard graphics on 7, but does on XP, and 3. Our printer doesn't worth with 7.

I personally prefer XP to Vista . When Windows 7 came out, i finally upgraded. it was way faster at executing applications than Vista, and there was improved memory protection. In some business settings, you'll still see XP used primarily because some companies don't want to shell out the cost of updating their OS.
