SLED10 help

well I just wiped out FreeBSD for now with SLED10. Got some things setup like firefox2 and nvidia drivers and xgl/compiz.

But then I tried adding the two partitions on my external drive to /etc/fstab.

Code:
/dev/sdb1 /home/michael/music vfat noauto,user,rw 0 0
but then when I try to mount it : mount /home/michael/music
I get this error::
mount: special device /dev/sdb1 does not exist

Code:
$mount
/dev/sda3 on / type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
debugfs on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,mode=0620,gid=5)
/dev/sda9 on /boot type ext2 (rw,acl,user_xattr)
/dev/sda11 on /home type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr)
/dev/sda8 on /opt type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr)
/dev/sda10 on /tmp type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr)
/dev/sda6 on /usr type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr)
/dev/sda7 on /var type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr)
securityfs on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw)
but that was the same way I'd done it in SuSE, so I have no idea what the deal is. My only guess is that its not /dev/sdb1.

also found that I don't have nano. and it not in YaST. LOL
So I dl'ed that and configured and make && make installed it but I went to make the alias nano and couldn't find what the script file name is to run nano. Anyone by chance know what it is?
Thanks

There should be a nano executable in the folder you ran the make && make install.

There is probably an rpm out there, but you can just search for it : "sudo find / -name nano" should do it...

I don't think it's run by any other command...just 'nano'. See if suse put pico on there instead for some reason (nano is the gnu version I think).

Hey got the RH RPM version and it works great now, thanks for the link. Pico wasn't installed either.

Fixed the mounting problem. Seems that somehow it erased that whole backup drive:swearing:
Luckily I still have 70% of that data else where. Mainly thing was the lost of a bunch of big distro downloads.

Suse and SLED
FC5
Ubuntu
Gentoo
FreeBSD
Debian
nUnuntu

but luckily I have SuSE, SLED, FC5 and FreeBSD on DVDs and FC6 is coming out soon and Gentoo and Ubuntu are only one cd.
