New modder in 'Bama

Hi, all! I've observed modding for a loooong time, but never cared about it until I recently decided to build a new rig. Figured I'd do something unique instead of the same old plain stuff I've always had. So I've been scouring a lot of sites, and this seems to be MOD CENTRAL, so here I am!
Rig History:
1) 1982 - My dad gave me a Timex/Sinclair 1000 for my twelfth birthday. Massive 2K (yes, that's two THOUSAND bits of information!) operating at a blistering 3.25Mghz. Used a 13" black and white TV for a forty-column, twenty-five line display. My tape player connected for a tape drive storage unit. He splurged and gave me the 16K RAM booster add-on pack. I was ROCKIN'! Learned BASIC on that baby and actually programmed a tie fighter sprite to fly around the screen! smile.gif Check it out here!
2) 1983 - I began a summer job and bought my first "real" computer...a Commodore 64. You had to be there to understand. The C-64 was like the i7 back then. Cutting edge! Moved up to a color TV, and a 5.25" floppy drive--big as a shoebox! Check it out here!
3) 1985 or 86 - BAM! Commodore 128 baby! I can't even begin to explain the quantum leap involved but get this...it was twice as powerful and fast as the C-64, but it also had a complete C-64 system built into it for backwards-compatibility. But hold onto your hats...it was actually a tri-boot system...you could also boot into a third system powered by the Z-80 chip called CP/M. Check it out here!
4) 1992 - After drifting around for a while, I decided to move into the PC world. Bought a razor's edge 386DX-40 PC from a defunct company called FastData. You can imagine the thrills and chills of Windows 3.1 on THAT beast! I upgraded this thing about four separate times until 2000, when I opened a speed shop, and incorporated parts of the corpse into my business computer, a 486 system which I can't remember the speed of right now.
5) Several upgrades of that computer later, I ended up giving up on upgrading and bought a Dell Inspiron 531 in 2009, which I still use. It's an Athlon 64 6000+ 3Mhz with 4gb RAM and the factory HD2600XT Radeon. It's not a speed-demon by any means, but it's always been a fun system and I've enjoyed it. Now I'm ready to build the system I've always wanted and said I'd build if I ever had the cash.
Daddy gets to play now!
I wonder how many folks here have ever manually set IRQ interrupts just to get a system to boot? That used to be normal! HA! It's so much easier now.
