You people can go on blabbering all you want about value, functions, options and features all day long because a person who can afford a Louis Vuitton ain't gonna listen to you people whining about how much value a "Thank You" bag has over my $3000 LV.
Many of you are just hurt that Apple has achieved cult status and your petty HTC, Samsung, etc has not. Let the whining continue, as you were…

Interesting that you used that comparison. Do you remember BMW, Mercedes or Audi launching lawsuits because some other car maker uses door handles or windshield wipers?

Apple can dominate all they want as long as they are innovating. Problem is they really have stagnated lately and seem to be focusing more on hurting the competetion to keep them down. This practice is bad for the consumer.

So happy I bought my Prime last week. It was between that and a Zenbook. I kind of want both, thanks Apple..........

If they go after the Prime, which will probably happen, all I can do is LOL cause only and idiot would say it looks like an iPad. iPad doesn't have the circular metal pattern on back and has that ugly middle button.

Seems they just strong arm their closest competitors out of competition with blackmail/lawsuit.

Hope Asus can grab another manufacturer for those Zens, they are so nice.

I'm considering getting a Prime or Ultrabook just to support ASUS. Maybe I'll go for it when I get my tax refund.

I'm taking a strong stand that it was Apple initiating this--which is true--but where in the reports implies the opposite? I can't change people who need irrefutable proof before they believe anything, but this isn't making some outlandish off-the-wall statements--it's connecting the dots--not a very difficult thing to put together. Do you really need someone from Pegatron's board to come forward and admit to everything that transpired? Of course that's not going to happen, but the way you're painting the picture is very naive. Your assumption of this being the case implies that Apple previously had MORE business to give to Pegatron that Pegatron couldn't initially handle--which has no historical precedent between the companies (why do you think Pegatron serves multiple contracts among multiple vendors?). Since contracted for iphone components, Apple only ever gave Pegatron a small volume of production.
Sure, you can say "well, maybe Apple suddenly has more business to give to Pegatron, and Pegatron accepted." Sure--okay. I can't disprove that. But that's also an incredibly naive outlook on the situation when the back story is that Pegatron had been manufacturing a direct competitor to one of Apple's products (the zenbook is actually a very strong competitor to apple's ultrabook lineup--it sells out of stock at a lot of the retailers in very little time--why would Apple even bring up the issue of the zenbook if they weren't concerned about it?), and suddenly stops production after an altercation with Apple. If you're asking me for the proof that Apple all but forced them to cancel their contract with Asus, of course I don't have that information--and no one with common sense on either Pegatron or Apple side of the fence would come forward with that info either. So of course neither of us can prove the others' story false.
Again, you are assuming that is what happened. I also am making assumptions. Difference is that your assumptions are based on the premise that "Apple is evil and therefore they must be involved in foul business". At the end of they day they cannot force anyone to stop doing anything in this manner. Until today (?) they held no patent that could force Pegatron to stop manufacturing Ultrabooks. If Pegatron stopped the production on Apple's request they did so because it is a sound business decision. Nothing more and nothing less. Nobody came into Pegatron facilities ransacking the place, breaking knees, and chopping fingers. For Pegatron, short and long term Apple is more valuable than any Ultrabook venture that they may support. That is the whole point. You can agree with it, or you can disagree, the choice is yours. However, I can assure you that there was no coercion here in any mafioso sense. It's a simple question, "hey, by the way those Ultrabooks, we see that as a conflict of interest, so if you guys do not stop production of Ultrabooks we will be forced to take our i-device business elsewhere". Do you really believe that the question was anything but that? On top of that if Apple so much as hinted to Pegatron at any increased business or better relationship in the future that would do nothing but further strengthen the resolve to quit the Ultrabook business and go forward with Apple contracts. There is no naivety here. This is business and it's not always "fair" in the eyes of an observer.

I think at this point we can just agree to disagree smile.gif

how about bmw suing infiniti over the use of the letter M:

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/20/bmw-beats-infiniti-in-battle-over-m/

or mercedes suing audi because their diesel was to be released ahead of mercedes:

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1024557_mercedes-to-file-bluetec-patent-claim-against-audi

or LG trying to ban the sale of audi's and bmw's in south korea because of how LEDs work:

http://www.caradvice.com.au/139938/lg-files-lawsuit-to-ban-sale-of-audi-bmw-in-south-korea/

yeah only apple is capable of that kind of stuff.

Intels total market value is around 136 Billion.

It's close enough, Intel won't be cutting them off anytime soon.

You have no value sense if you think ~40 billion is close enough.

Almost all of apple's market value comes from iPhones, iPads and iPods. They only have a 5-6% marketshare of computers, which is what Intel actually does. If intel dumps them, they'd more than make up for the loss through their ultrabooks.

You got to learn from other moderators and layoff this quoting of rules, each time I open one of this news posts I find myself reading these annoying messages that are meant for someone else..
If you need to correct someone do it privately, noone should know what you are saying to these people nor anyone else should care about it..
