I also vote for the 2 x 6950s. The only issue with the Sapphire Dirt 3 cards is that they max out at 1.18v. I have yet to figure out a way to get the voltage to go higher on it. Anyway, my CrossfireX HD 6950's (one Dirt3 and one Diamond Reference) are both unlocked and overclocked to 930/1375Mhz. They kick ass and run BF3 on Ultra 4xMSAA smooth as butter. With the high res texture pack on Skyrim, I have yet to notice the fps drop below 60.

700

Every time I post in one of these threads I get the itch to be generous and sell the OP my cards on the cheap, (and because I want to try out the newer cards coming out just for ****s) but then I realize how upset I would be. These cards rock.

Just thought I would share what we saw. The 6950's aren't the better choice. Crysis 2 scales just fine. Mw3 scales fine too. 7970 beats the 6950's in both those games and consuming way less power. The choice isn't mine to make.

If you want 2 unlocked 6950's my buddy will gladly sell you his. He saw the difference and wants to make the change. Anyone with 2 6950's will definitely stand by their cards whether it's the right call or not.

He has 2 Diamond cards unlocked already. If your interested, I'll ask him what he wants. Good luck with whatever you choose thumb.gif

I don't know if I can verify your contentions regarding Crysis 2 and MWF3, but OP was asking about the 7950, not the 7970. I agree with you, if I was to do it all over again I would probably go with the 7970, but probably not the 7950. It's a close call.

I was just stating what I've seen with my 7970. A overclocked 7950 will run faster than a stock 7970. I wasn't saying to get a 7970, just that in game it was smoother and faster than the 6950's in crossfire. I can always upload some screen shots or whatever to show you.

I'm not making money by getting you to buy one or the other. I'm just trying to help give advice as I've seen the difference between the 2 setups. I only try to pass on good info to anyone on OCN. I have no reasons to lie or fan boy a product. Hell, I was in the green camp for the past 2 years. I am more than impressed with the performance of these new AMD cards. My 1 7970 doesn't come CLOSE to the #'s I was getting in benchmarks. Firing up games now, that's a whole different story. Every game that I have played so far has been WAY more enjoyable with my new card. I will be getting my 2nd 7970 on friday and will be able to comment on how crossfire is working and if there's any noticeable micro stuttering. I sure hope not.

I can say that playing Crysis 2 @ 5760x1080 at 40fps feels a lot smoother than playing it on the 3 480's at 55-60fps.
