Worth upgrading to Windows 7 or wait for Windows 8?

Thread Starter
I am using Vista and have been since its release, Windows has a student special where I can get it for 65 bucks. Now I am reluctant to because I know I will get a performance boost but I also know I will just upgrade once Windows 8 comes out as long as the performance increase for Bulldozer is as good as they are saying. So is it worth it to just upgrade now or wait till Windows 8?

Should have upgraded a long time ago IMO...sign up for a Computer Science or Engineering class, most cases you get access to MSDN then just download it for free.

Well to be a firefighter you only need 1 computer class and I already took it, it was only a class on how to use Microsoft Office and we got it for next to nothing (right before Windows 7 was released).

Doesn't mean you can't sign up for another... don't even have to take it. sign up for it, show up the first week, download the key and iso and then drop the class.

It will be fine. I also had no problem with Vista. But I am not going to doubt all the reviews out there. And a couple times I tried re installing Vista just for a change, and no, it doesnt work.

The thing is from what I have been reading is Windows 8 has support for CPU's with 8 or more cores and windows 7 even with the future patches still wont be as optimized for 8 or more core CPU's. I am not sure if this is true or not.

IMO keep vista. Vista is a superior gaming OS and was more stable in terms of gaming performance. VISTA has a more stable foundation.
