What GPU will best suit my system?

Thread Starter
Ok I'm upgrading soon to a p67 mobo with an i5 2500k and 8GB ripjaw x. I have all other parts but can't figure out what the best deal card will be. I don't want to spend a lot. But don't want to cheap out and bottleneck the rig. What GPU do you recommend with this build. Btw 700W PSU.

This would work pretty good ! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102963
What price range are you looking at ??

You mention not wanting to bottleneck your pc, you might want to get something with 2g+ of ram. It depends on what you play, and at what resolution, but having 1.5+ gb of vram is possibly valuable. The lower level nvidia cards won't have that. If the leaked stuff about the new nvidia cards is correct, you might wait until april/may. If it isn't or you don't care to wait, you still might consider waiting another week or so (someone said the 20th something of february?) when the amd 7800 series releases. It will basically be a newer version of the current 6900 series, with lower power usage and a better architecture (correct me if I'm wrong anyone). Even if you didn't like the 7800 series, it'll probably drive down the prices on the other amd offerings, and possibly the analog nvidia cards.

People say "yeah but you can wait forever" or "new stuff is always just over the ridge" which is true...but, in this case it's like 7 days for the new amd stuff, and you might find something out now has gotten cheaper, or something new that's better.

On a side note if you really wanted a 560 448, if you go to the anandtech forums there's a deal for a galaxy for like 220 with free shipping that ends today (I know this isn't the deal forum - but it seemed relevant...mods please don't ban me :x)

With that rig its more about how much money you can spend. Bottle necks always exist its a question where and when it can be seen. In most games the GPU is pretty much always the bottle neck so if you want to bottle neck you CPU you need to spend A LOT of money we are talking about 3x gtx 580 or the like. Spending that much on GPU's is not what you should do if you just want to game as it is way overkill.

So whats your budget? For a very good gaming experience you could pick up radeon 7970.
