USB Headset vs Analog and Soundcard

Yeah... So I'm guessing you've heard this before, but I couldn't find a straight answer in the forums...

I'm buying a new headset, and I'm wondering what is best for gaming?
My current game is Battlefield 3, which has the most amazing sound! And I'd like it to be even better!
But I'd also like to be able to talk to people on a mic.

Should I just get a USB headset, or should I get a good soundcard, and an analog headset ??

Or.. In short.. What is the BEST?

Edit: I'm running SLI, which leaves very little space between my graphicscards, and to the bottom of my case, and My CPU cooler is extremly close to my top PCI 1x slot....

Best sound quality? Most definantly a dedicated sound card.

However, given your situation with your graphics cards (which I happen to be in too thumb.gif) Your temps might get pretty high depending on where you put the sound card.

And anyway, after using the Corsair HS1 headset for awhile, I have to say: I was impressed, the sound quality wasn't nearly as bad as my old USB headphones (so bad that they shouldn't even be named).

Ye.. That's why I've considered the Asus Xonar DX! It's a low profile sound card.
Shouldn't block too much airflow to the gpu's, and fit in my top pci x1 slot...
It's a little old, but reviewers say it's a good bang for the buck!

Haha, Im actually in the same postion as you. I have the Vengence 1300 headset and I really want to get a nice sound card, however with two video cards, it really obstructs airflow. I'm glad you mentioned the Xonar DX, thats my new wishlist item thumb.gif
