Don't know how you people can screw up with VLC, really; it plays everything I throw at it. I use XBMC nowadays, but only because I want that media centre feel, with a good set up library.

I use KMPlayer. I tried VLC in the past a couple of times and I didn't care for it.
I use MPlayer more than VLC these days but probably still gonna grab VLC2 when it comes out.

I have been using VLC for many years now for testing multicast streaming in my labs. The last few releases broke several things and I hope V2 fixes them. I had to go buy a commercial program for testing purposes (stream Valve IP) because VLC was just not stable enough. I will be anxious to see if this version is more stable...

Use MPlayer more because it runs better without imperfections in the video. Have VLC just in case though. Looking forward to what they will add.

I have been running cccp + coreavc for videos and foobar2000 for music, but I will keep an eye on this. I used to use VLC for everything. My main issue that caused me to stop using it was that 1080p videos just didn't play correctly at all without codecs.

I wonder if all the random artifacting, crashes, and comparatively low visual quality has been addressed. Will try it out just to see whether I can still legitimately hate it smile.gif

At the moment, MPC HC+CCCP+madVR = pure bliss. Sure, you need to tweak the settings a bit to get all of that stuff interacting properly, but once you do - ahhh, the awesomeness.

I don't see the point of VLC when kmplayer can eat pretty much everything thrown at it by default, but it accepts external codecs.
