That, the initial cost and the quality of the light. Having tried a few of the commercially available bulbs I have to say they would be fine in an office environment but I don't want one in my home. The light seems too blue, cold and harsh compared to the softer, yellower, warmer light of an incandescent (subjective I know). I know that better white LEDs have been developed but they have yet to make it to the shelves (at least to the shelves that I have found). When they can make a LED which mimics a black body radiator in the visible spectrum then I will be sold.
I would love to replace my lights with LED lights, my living room lights alone consume 200W, but it just isn't feasible for me right now. Hopefully this will help slightly.
