....what are you going to be using for source files? what about sound chip/card/DAC? Amplifier? if you don't know what any of these are.....we have a problem. most do know the first two.

Well first, almost my entire library is comprised of FLACs, with very few 320kbps MP3s thrown in as well. Other than that, I'll be running it out of my Xonar D2X and my HK3490 (either hooked up to a blu-ray player through optical, or to my computer through coaxial) for the time being. With my wallet holding me back, I'm going to have to wait a bit before I can get a dedicated amp for them.

And P.S. - I'm not personally offended, but the way you asked was very condescending. I'm just saying someone else could have taken that wrong.

No worries. I don't mind calling it a misinterpretation. I'm not a fighter. Haha. But everything leads me to believe that I made the right choice.

haha ok man hope you enjoy thumb.gif and thank you soo soo much for bringing that up. many people are fighters deep down and get angry. very rarely ahs it happend to me but it has. and yes. i've posted way to much on head fi. i get a bit cautionful sometimes. but it should be wonderful for you...again.. just a little why not guess...don't quote me or take to heart any words on it being wonderful though. it's just opinionated and has not testing/facts behind it.

Currently I am running a nice midrange setup of Sennheiser HD 380 PROs (great overall range, bass is nice and defined but not overwhelming) with a FiiO E7 (Waiting for the E17). Overall a nice mid-range setup for a beginner. But from what you are saying, I would be looking at a better set of cans. Have you looked at the HD 650s? They are a bit over your range, but well worth it.

That's kind of odd considering it's an open headphone.

And there's always an equalizer.

Congrats on the HD 600's. I did hear something about a dark veil on the HD 650's so I don't know if that applies to the 600.

Snnheiser's typically have a slight veeil sound to it. just it's signature. only problem with the 600 series is not the headphones. but getting the good source files, DAC, and amp to utilize it. you need good source files that play well with the headphones (this is like 5% of my music libray. most recordings either suck/not to par or just dont' do well with good headphones) and then a good DAC and then amp. the OP has a good setup already though. maybe a more powerful amp down the road. but hey who knows. the op should go and try out the HD600's into a bigger more powerful amp and if he likes what he hears..then a bigger more powerful amp is down the road. if not..then his setup is complete.

Take a look at this review of HD800's vs Beats by Dre

(It shows graphs of sensitiveness and such it will surprise you)

This. Although it becomes an even larger pain the the K701, K702, and Q701. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to hear a difference between 320kb MP3 and FLAC/WAV/Lossless on those.

I tried the HD600 in Japan and it was a meh...I guess I like a good amount of bass but not too much. All the headphones there weren't properly driven though. The AH-D2000's were flat and the music sounded like I was stuck in a box. I saw equipment but it probably wasn't very good stuff.
