Recomend me a Single Slot GPU

Thread Starter
hey guys, trying to upgrade my girls gpu, has a HD 3xxx series currently in her dell, looking for a (hopefully) HD6xxx series or higher, that only need 1 slot in the back. freaking dell's positioning of the cards sucks, and if the video car has for example, an hdm and vga in one slot, anda dvi that fits in a different slot, it won't fit. I appreciate any recommendations. Will be to play Star Wars, WOW, and games similar at or above medium - high graphics.

thanks!

This is a huge upgrade from HD 3xxx. Power Supply should not be an issue for this card.

+ 1 on that 6770. Also I believe there is a 6850 single slot card out. Either of these should work, but as stated above her power supply might be a limiting factor. If this is under question, I'm fairly certain a 6670 doesn't require additional PSU cables and should run fine on the PCIe 75watts thus should work with basically any PSU.

And to the idiots suggesting 6950 and 7970 above, I wish you could be down-voted and de-repped. Morons. Read the OP, think, read again, ensure comprehension, get your parents to double check your work ... THEN post.

2nd thought - does the card need to be low-profile? Sometimes these pre-built PC's from Dell etc don't have the room for full height cards either.

Pentium D 2.8? Lol. Just upgrade. In all honesty, an AMD Llano APU setup would be a better bet. An A8 3850 on the MSI FM1 board would smoke her setup for not much money.

Otherwise save a little more again. A good $500 is a great base to work from for a new rig. It's a fair bit more than just a GPU upgrade, but she's kinda overdue (at least by OCN standards) thumb.gif

+1 also on the 6670/6770 I have a 5670 in one of my alt comps works great for most games.

more importantly I am with Willibj here people need to learn to read OP's if your not answering the question asked then what is the point?
