x-fi to front panel adapter problems

Thread Starter
Hey, I've made an adapter to go from my x-fi to the front panel audio on my case and the headphone out works fine, but the mic doesn't work properly. i think this is due to the mic needing 5v to work properly and the x-fi only gives it 2.5v. does anyone know the solution for this?

I dont think there is a solution for the front, I have had the same problem with my ZS 2 panel and I have not managed anything.

If you know you need 5v, then why not kill the 2.5v supply from the soundcard, and feed it 5v from the PSU 5v rail?

hmm... I want to be able to use the digital out of my x-fi to my external DAC instead of the analogue out to my headphone amp...

witchy, I don't want to kill anything... I've heard of people using the mic bias from the mobo... maybe I could try that...

well, you said you think it has something to do with the mic needing 5v, so I though its a special mic or something

no, I think most desktop mics need 5v... I've been reading up in some threads about it and the 2.5v/5v problem seems to be a common one
