Demers is one of those people that you really don’t want to go, but somehow did anyway. Not much more to say other than AMD seems hell-bent on not having any senior people on staff that have been around for more than a few months.

What a shame and a loss for AMD's graphics division, he has done a lot at that company to get them competitive again.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, after all we know nothing about the inner workings of AMD.

A single high profile person leaving a company is not necessarily a bad thing, but when a company has been hemorrhaging its top execs and senior talent over the past year.... it's not the best sign.

IIRC, most of them have been people being shown the door. Remember, they have a new CEO and he's going to be bringing in his own people.

I wonder why AMD is so troublesome lately.

AMD is already leaving the desktop CPU war... and now please not the GPU... I don't want to see market domination. In which I doubt about it anyways. Just saying.

They are not necessarily "leaving" the cpu war. They are simply not going to try and keep up with intel and follow in their footsteps. Instead they are going to take a step back and rethink a new strategy and that is to innovate and be successful with APU's and cpu's as well. Their latest product roadmaps did not shown any sign of them getting out of the cpu market. They have many cpu's and apu's due to release this year.

In my view, AMD might try to gain flavor to Apple products. Apple has already taken their GPU into account but still use Intel CPU.

APU would be a perfect component for notebooks if it is powerful enough to extend battery life and performances.

As pretty much they want to push off Intel CPU with Integrated HD graphic with APU + Discreet GPU which will be the best combination if done right.

This is why I said they left the war, means no war but just not competing with Intel in desktop market at all.
