Help with triple monitor! (6950)

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
So, i just brought home this lovely new XFX Radeon HD 6950 Double D (NewEgg link)I got all my three monitors connected to it but can only use two of them at the same time even though I am ruining Catalyst version 12.1 (Picture). I connected one via Mini display (adapted to HDMI) and one in HDMI and the last one in DIV-d. Windows detects all displays as well but when i set the settings to Extend display it says "Unable to save display settings".

My Monitors:
Samsung SyncMaster SA350 21.5 inch LED Monitor
MEDION AKOYA P54040 (MD 20230)
Mirai dml-522w100 (couldn't find more info)

I know some of these are quite bad, and not all are 1080p (mirai one isn't) but as a full-time student money isn't my strong side. And honestly their fine for what i need them for. I am not looking for eyefinity anytime soon but I'd love three monitors as one extended desktop.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mini-DP to HDMI?

Wont work mate

You need Mini-DP to VGA or mini-DP to DVI

And the DVI adapter must be ACTIVE

The Mini-DP to HDMI works fine, it's currently running my Samsung monitor without a problem.

It's like the poster stated above, you need an Active Mini Display Port to DVI adapter.

None of the monitor has native DisplayPort so it's not going to work for 3 monitors, extended or in Eyefinity group. It's not related to Catalyst version or driver.

This will work:

Monitor #1, DVI --> DVI --> 6950

Monitor #2, DVI --> DVI --> 6950

Monitor #3, DVI --> DVI-To-MiniDP Active Adapter --> 6950

This is the exact adapter to get. There's no way around it.

Ok thanks a lot, everyone!

Anyone know a shop that sells one of those that ships to Europe and takes Paypal?

I haven't managed to find one yet.

I had to use two of those dp to dvi adapters to get all three of my monitors to work on my 6970.
