Might end up gaming on the trinity pc lol

Yes I get access to that stuff but never have time. I would like a trinity as well. Want to build a valencia 1P with a 35W 8-core. Right now I am running my desktop on a Zurich. The home server is an E-350, great product.

Whoa, whoa a Zurich? Is that the 3200 series Opty I was ranting and raving about on here and the zone that you posted on? AM3+ correct? What can you tell us about it? Any info would be fantaboloustic!

Also I did not realize valencia 8 cores go down to 35 watts? That's insanely low for an 8 core bulldozer. But I'm mega interested in the Zurich man. TDP, stock clocks, socket, difference from FX? I know its stock clocks are lower because it is used for low power server with upto 8 cores but could I technically down clock my 8120 to 2.6ghz and have the same cpu? Oh man why you gotta go and tease us damn u !! Haha

sorry, product is not launched yet so I can't discuss anything beyond the fact that it exists. Can't give you core counts or TDPs. But I can say that it is targeted at web hosters, so think aggressive price, nice balance of cores and power. Would not be interesting to most as a desktop, I only use it for that because I am in the server business. If I was a consumer, FX would be a better choice.

I wish it was FM1 sadsmiley.gif it will almost certainly be FM2. I dont see why they need a new socket FM1 is still better equipped than intels best chipsets.

well I appreciate it though man. Sadly I really had my hopes up for that when I first got wind of it. But its no biggie. Good for AMD! I do like seeing them touch as many parts of the market as they can. I'm guessing since it most likely is am3+, that you can overclock it with reference clock and maybe get some decent performance out of it but for the people who purchase it, most likely they won't oc it because it would defeat the purpose of the low power etc. What is the successor to Zurich? Sepang? I have seen it somewhere in an AMD slide.

The Zurich successor is Delhi.

Zurich is essentially the same die as zambezi (for most layers). We don't focus on clock speed and don't allow overclocking. That is why you wouldn't want a server part as a consumer.

But it comes with hardware assisted virtualization, doesn't it?

This alone could be a very big plus. I loved my Opteron 1214.

Yes, every server processor has integrated virtualization support. That is one more reason that APUs for servers will probably be different from APUs for client usage.
