PSU for 24/7 Folding Build [Suggestions Needed] - Page 2

It's not like this is going to ever draw above 200W, so you needn't even consider 450W or so as a target.

My picks are:

Antec Earthwatts Green 380D (a reliable enough Delta budget unit, 80 plus bronze) - $45
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371033

Rosewill Capstone 450W (high end Super Flower Golden Green, 80 plus gold) - $76 with shipping
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066

Kingwin Absolute Platinum 550W (top end Super Flower Golden King, 80 plus platinum) - $130 with shipping, if you don't really care about price
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121094

The latter two are somewhere around the Corsair AX in quality: one below, one above, or thereabouts.

get this if money is an issue and I agree you really dont need more than a 450, but also do think quality too

the kingwin's are ***** , and for 20 bucks more you'll get a Corsair AX (way better quality IMO)

no, the kingwins are not ****. the SF/kingwin 550w platinum units take the AX/X units out the back and spank them

this is the best gold certified that's cheap. You'll want a I high efficiency rated psu since it will be on 24/7 at full load, it will save you money in long run,.
There are some better choices but they are more money, what your budget?

That's a very good suggestion. Even spending more money, it's hard to get a better performer. Sure, you can get modularity and a more well-known name brand but that Capstone is a fantastic unit. I've got one myself, and it's been nothing short of perfect.

You're right that 450W is more than enough for his setup, but I must disagree about Kingwin PSU. Their Lazer Platinum and Gold lines have both received high praise from professional reviewers. I agree that they're a quite a bit overpriced, though, especially the Platinum ones.

well then your opinion is wrong. not only is it pretty dumb to say something like the kingwins are **** because of anecdotal evidence that 2 out of the myriad of kingwin units produced died, you also admit that the ones that died werent even platinums, which were the ones that mike linked. the AX series being far better quality is also not opinion, its falsehood

Wow, you had two Lazers die on you? Or were they other Kingwins?

If it was my cash, I'd forgo both of those options and get the Capstone 450W.

Here is a link to the 480w and under that Microcenter have. If you really want you can use the scroll at the top and put New York Westbury to really see what my story has to offer.

http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.phtml?N=4294966654+381

I dont mind ordering the Capstone unit, but figured if I was there tomorrow for other stuff and there was one just as good why not save a few bucks right?
