[quotemsg=2561980,22,34832]If viewing at normal monitor viewing distances, you want to keep your PPI (pixels per inch) above 90. The human eye can start to detect individual pixels at PPI < 96 ..... ok to miss by a little, after that screen starts to look grainy. I'd avoid the choices highlighted in bold text

Resolution / Description / Screen Size / PPI

1920×1080 / 1080p / 13.1 / 168.2
1920×1080 / 1080p / 15.6 / 141.2
1920×1080 / 1080p / 16.4 / 134.3
1920×1080 / 1080p / 21.5 / 102.5
1920×1080 / 1080p / 23.0 / 95.8
1920×1080 / 1080p / 23.6 / 93.3
1920×1080 / 1080p / 24.0 / 91.8
1920×1080 / 1080p / 24.6 / 89.6
1920×1080 / 1080p / 27.0 / 81.6
1920×1200 / WUXGA / 15.4 / 146.8
1920×1200 / WUXGA / 17.0 / 132.9
1920×1200 / WUXGA / 22.0 / 102.9
1920×1200 / WUXGA / 23.0 / 98.4
1920×1200 / WUXGA / 24.0 / 94.0
1920×1200 / WUXGA / 25.5 / 88.5
1920×1200 / WUXGA / 27.0 / 83.8

The monitor you choose needs to be chosen based on what you use it for.

If you are primarily using your PC for fast paced action/ FPS games then you may want to invest in a 120hz monitor (alot of people on here seem to think the world of them for gaming, but i've never been convinced) but I digress.

If your mainly playing RTS or MMORPG's however, I see very little reason to choose a 120hz monitor over one with better colours (such as an IPS monitor - a couple of people have mentioned Dells Ultrasharp range in this respect - LG also do a relatively cheap one, though the stand is a bit flimsy and it has some backlight bleeding issues.

For colour sensitive work you will want an IPS monitor - ideally without the Anti Glare (of which the Dells have loads) coating - but getting one of these without a colorimeter if you need accurate colours is pretty pointless. Keep in mind that IPS monitors in general demand a premium.

For me - if you play alot of competitive FPS/fast paced action games your better off with a 120hz monitor (many others will be able to provide good suggestions for these), if not, and you can afford it (and with 300 you could afford the U2311 - maybe the 2412 if you shopped around) - go for an IPS monitor

I think I may jump on the bandwagon, too. At the very least, we'll all go down with the ship!

FYI: There is also a 5% off coupon that stacks with the $60 off.
