960t vs 1045t vs 4100 - Page 2

the extra cores unlocked, at stock, and with a vcore set manually at 1.16v. it does go down to 107W. the same as when it is a quad. weird it would not read 95W. locked, it would go down to 71W when Cool & Quiet is enabled.

if you do go with this chip, do not expect it to unlock. that way you won't be dissapointed.

Thats the problem, isnt it..... I can get the 1045t for $150 so is the $20 worth the for-sure two cores?

I hate to pick this back up a thread from two weeks ago but this is what I found when I searched it.
Yes there is a search button lol lachen.gif

And besides it's all relevant and price points are all about equal now, there is no big price difference anymore.

I am going to buy one of these processors(last 3 on the promo) with the free/$10.00 motherboard

http://www.microcenter.com/specials/promotions/AMDbundlePROMO.html

960t - $109.99
FX4100 - $109.99
1045t - $119.99

I'm pretty sure I would just use the Gigabyte board if I got the 1045t but I would spend $10.00 more to have the core unlocker of the ASUS board for the 960t. The FX4100 I know nothing about really. But I want opnions

I'm powering this rig with this stuff I already have
4gb's of Cheap DDR3 Ram (2, 2gig sticks)
OCZ 550w Bronze Power supply
HD5770 or HD6750
and i'm gonna watercool it as I have everything except a CPU block. It will likely get my XSPC Rasa Block as the 2500k I have will get a Raystorm.

Please understand I'm only asking for AMD options because this price point. I have a i5 2500k which will likely become a dedicated folding machine.

$120.00-$130.00 is all I wanna spend, this computers main purpose would just be a general use computer, No gaming, Some online video streaming & output to my TV also. I guess my biggest selling point would be which processor would be best for folding. I know the board will probably limit the overclocking ability. However I want all opinions and information I can get to weigh my options.

Thanks in advance.

if the 960T go with the $160 bundle or above. the first two cheaper bundles will render the cpu useless and you'll be better off with the 1045T.
