What's better than two GTX 480 in SLI?

Thread Starter
Hellllllllo! :-) I currently own two GTX 480 in SLI. I want to upgrade, but I don't want to use SLI. Is there any single card on the market that would surpass 480's? Thanks!

Do you mean single graphics card or single GPU? Single graphics card, just barely yes (590 and 6990). Single GPU, not yet.
It would be either the 590 or 6990. They are dual gpus but still the form of a single card.
You could upgrade to a single Radeon 7970, however I don't think the performance will match. But the 7970 has better power management and has more Vram. Crossfire it in the future too.
I think the 7970 should and use Waaaaaay less power too.

To be honest, I'm tired of the noise and the heat. I would rather have a single card (with dual GPU or not) that just run cooler and make less noise. I got my eye on the 590 now, but not sure :S

A 590 still uses SLI and he says he doesn't want SLI anymore. Right now there is no single GPU card that will match 2 480's, but a 7970 should be about ~75% of 2 480's. I think your best bet is to wait for Nvidia's next gen cards and them make your decision.

Nvidia is expected to have a single card that strong in the next series. Expected doesn't mean they will though.
