That's awesome dude!! Stub'd!!
Can't wait to read/see your detailed build log, it'll be interesting to know how them 7970's perform thumb.gif

Okay guys, I've gotten my 3960X system built and am in the process of finding my max OC. So far I'm Prime-stable at 4.7GHz @ 1.4V but 4.8GHz is being a bit of a pain. I'm pretty sure this chip has it in her, I just gotta tweak it some more. My goal is to do all of the testing at 4.8GHz on both machines as that frequency seems to be near the thermal limit of my coolers (H60 for the 2600K and H80 for the 3960X).

Anyway, just wanted to update you guys and hopefully I'll be benching real soon!

Go into your DIGI Power Control, under CPU power and boost the load calibration from medium to high; this should make 4.8Ghz more stable. smile.gif You should be able to under-volt it slightly too!!

Yep, that's exactly what I already did. Running Prime right now at 4.8GHz @ 1.42V and LLC set to High. I tried Ultra High first but it was sending too much voltage to the CPU so I backed it down and now it seems more stable. Still have a few hours of Prime to go before I can call it ready for the showdown....

Since you have 16gb of memory, you should try out installing games on ramdisks using ImDisk to get 6000MBps read/write speeds.

How is that 320 series SSD though? I just bought one because I heard their more reliable even though they bench a bit slower.

That's a nice chip you got there! thumb.gif What voltage do you use for 4.8GHz?

I actually have two Intel 320's in RAID 0 right now. I haven't run any benches on them yet other than WEI and they scored a 7.9...

Yours ain't soo bad either!! thumb.gif Highest I'm able to reach with my H80 is 4924.56 MHz @1.37v I think she's able to get higher but not with this cooler, there's simply too much thermals for the tiny rad. mad.gif 4.8Ghz with the same setting is completely stable, even after a night's worth of prime.
