I've been wanting to do one of these for quite some time, but the only spare panels I have are a 17" and 15" LCD, and finding fresnel lenses that big is kind of a pain in the ass (15" not so much, but its an ancient IBM screen and wouldnt be very good).
So I thought, why not a portable TV? Can get a 7", they're LCD, cheap, would let me use an LED lightsource instead of a CFL bulb, and make the projector way smaller. Plus 7" lenses are easier to find.

The only problem I'm having now is finding a 7" portable TV with actual inputs on it, so I can hook something like a game console (or more ideally, a computer, but I'm holding my breath on VGA or otherwise input on a portable TV).

Anybody have any experience with a DIY projector, or portable TV's?
