That is exactly what I am thinking. AMD cards price will drop when 780GTX lands. 780GTX price will remain unchanged.

i dont think the 7970 price will drop for a long time...cause nvidias 780 will be 650-700 dollars...so they wont need to lower price of 7970

This feels just like the Fermi launch again, minus the loud/hot rumors. Same situation basically though. AMD out first, Nvidia 3-6 months late, tries to curb potential buyers from going with AMD by releasing "leaks" that it will be 80-100% better than competition. It works on quite a few and they wait. It finally lands and it is about 10-20% better than AMD's depending on the game. Same as always. Not saying that is a bad thing, you wait and get a little better performance for a slightly higher price. Just don't expect some of these insane numbers floating around, don't fall for marketing tactics. Remember just a short while ago, the 7970 is going to be as fast as 2x 6970's! We see this from both sides with almost every new release.

...we can be sure of is this: the speed increase offered by the HD 7970 is already immense, and the GTX 780 looks set to significantly surpass this come March-April

Soooo... 780 in March-April or was it slated for a Q3 launch?

This article is just a retort of other rumors... Move along.

I remember buying my GeForce 6800 back in 2004, paid 350$!
Lasted me quite awhile, much better than my Geforce 2 32MB. ;P
Then my 8800 GT was 250, a stellar price and another huge jump.
But now, when the flagship comes out, it's 500-550$, and I hate that.

2 Things here, an 8800GT wasn't a flagship, and inflation. *350 in 2004 is equal to about 420 now days*

I'm going to wait either way because I don't even have a CPU and Mobo at the moment anyways. There is no point of rushing to get 7970 or 780 at least for me.
