Need An upgrade, advices are welcome.

Thread Starter
I've just purchased an Amd Fx 8120 ( installed) w\ ripjaws 1333mhz (in mail) . and I already have a EVGA 465 graphics card installed.
I got a $500 budget to get a better card that wont bottleneck my system..

What Card should I go for?

All advices are appreciated.

Thank you for your time!

Mreek
edit. Keep in mind I live in Norway so ordering from newegg would give me taxes and stuff like that would easy go up to a $100(?)

I'm guessing that 40" LCD you're using is 1080p. If all $500 is dedicated to a vid card then go for a Sapphire non-ref HD 7950.

Ouch. The next step down would be the 6970 or gtx570. Dropping a tier lower and you could grab a gtx560ti-448. Any of the three should do well for your resolution.

If not, wait to see what the HD 78xx has in store next month. Maybe even wait for Keplar...

It depends if it can be unlocked. Its all chance. 6950 2gb is a good buy. OR you can grab a gtx 480 from the zotac website for 190 US.

I would wait for the Nvidia GeForce 600 Series (also known as the "Kepler" series). The GTX 680/690 are rumored to be capable of six teraflops. It is expected to release sometime before April of this year so your decreased gaming experience shan't be reduced for too much longer smile.gif Indubitably, the 600 series will be pricey and probable to exceed your $500 budget, but, the release of the 600 series will result in a decrease in price for the 500 series.

I was considering an upgrade to a GTX 580 (to replace my ancient GTX 280) but after learning about the soon-to-be-released GTX 600 series, I decided to wait. I would at least wait to see what the 600 series is capable of before spending $500.

I should mention that I am very biased towards Nvidia and Intel products so exploring AMD Radeon's (ATI's) options would be also be a good idea. I remember scanning across an article mentioning a new series of ATI cards that are coming out in the next couple of months to rival Nvidia's 600 series.

Patience, my Scandinavian friend, patience. smile.gif
