Looking for 120mm Fans: Silent/performance

Hi Guys, First new topic biggrin.gif

I have my CM690 advanced II, and I just found my 140mm fan I'll be using: Akasa Apache controlled via fanmate 2, which has good Static pressure for intake, and good cfm when almost at low speed (and sound isn't that bad), and I'll keep my Fractal design 140mm at exhaust (very very silent)

I'm looking for good 120mm fan. I use to have 1x rear exhaust CoolerMaster R4 (Sickeflow blue led) at low speed (cause instead it is noisy) and 1x in push on my zalman CNPS10x at max speed. it cools very wel, bu I want to add one under my DVD-drive, so I can get a 3rd intake.

Since there is the mesh grill and a small stock filter, it need to have a good static pressure, so R4 at full speed will be loud I think. I found: Xigmatek XSF-F1252. Anyone have tested it?

I know for the CPU cooler, a GT AP15 would be perfect, but the price is high to get 3 of those fan (18$ each fan, that makes 54$ for 3 fan, which is a bit expensive)

Any advice? any fan you think could be nice? I'm looking for a bit of silence but performance also. No led fan, Black if possible or grey, or wing white and cover black.

Thanks for any help smile.gif

Gelid Wing Silents should meet your needs, quiet, fairly good airflow, white impellers, and roughly $9 a pop.

cut out your rear grill
get a TY-140 (120mm mounting)

Hi

Thanks for your replies. I already look for the TY-140, but I kinda hate the look. Gelid sems not bad, are they good in front of a fiilter?

I have 2 of these in my 690 II Advanced. They are extremely quiet and move a lot of air. They are slate black color, one of the beautiful case fan + LED slot.

to replace my 2x Fractal, grr why you showed me this xD.

As for the 120mm, For sure, the AP15 could be the one for the CPU, or still the R4. To cut the rear grill, I'll need to look, cause I'm a bit unsure about doing this. That would reduce the noise?

I really hate choosing fans. I had difficultie to find a good 140mm for intake, now 120mm frown.gif

BitFenix Spectres make great case fans, look cool, and are quiet compared to the majority of their competition. I'd link you to the BitFenix site, but apparently it's down for maintenance.

Scythe GTs are my fan of choice for heatsinks, always.

WOuld you go with AP15 or AP14 for the cooler to replace my R4 max speed?? the CNPS10x extreme is small fin I think, so might need good pressure..

Abotu the case, I'm trying to unlock a budget for the GT, cause I know they are great, bu instead I will have to go maybe with the gelid, or something silent good cfm for the case.

AP14 for case and AP 15 for CPU? or all AP15? I'll try to record a video of my case sound right now. I'll post tonight!

Hey, I'm from Montreal as well. =P I just recently bought Zalman SF3 ... 120mm fan but I found it okay not too great or good but it looks pretty nice of the white color.

I would highly recommend look at NZXT 120mm series fans, they are great fan case. And GT-AP15 for rad all the way. Not even Cougar fan (I don't like orange color anyways).

My favorite 120's are the Sharkoon Silent Eagle SE, the Noctua NF-P14, and the Scythe Slipstream. I just got a Thermalright X-Silent 140mm and it's rather nice, so I imagine the 120mm version may be good as well. I've been impressed recently with the build quality of Thermalright fans.
